[Minghui.org] Colombia: Activities Call to End Decades-Long Persecution of Falun Dafa

Many people were dismayed to learn that Falun Dafa practitioners in China are subjected to the CCP’s forced organ harvesting and jailed in brainwashing institutes just for practicing a meditation and following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

(Minghui.org) Practitioners in Colombia held a series of activities to raise awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 26 years of persecution, which targets their spiritual practice on July 20, 2025. Through these activities, Medellin and Bogota residents learned about the persecution taking place in China, and many of them signed a petition calling to stop the persecution.

Practitioners from Medellin, Rionegro, Marinilla, and El Retiro demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises and held the Art of Zhen Shan Ren International Exhibition in front of the Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex (Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot) in Medellin, the second largest city in Colombia. The paintings caught the attention of passersby, not only for their artistic quality, but also for the inner peace that the paintings exude and the brutality they depict regarding the CCP’s persecution of practitioners in China.

The sports complex is a popular gathering spot. Many people had the opportunity to learn about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China. Most of them did not previously know about the crime of forced organ harvesting from practitioners while they are alive.

Medellin residents viewed the Art of Zhen Shan Ren International Exhibition artworks and learn about Falun Dafa and the CCP’s persecution in China.

Many people who were drawn by both the peaceful exercise demonstration and the realistic paintings wanted to know more about Falun Dafa and were outraged to learn about the persecution and organ harvesting crimes.

Practitioners passed out leaflets and collected signatures on a petition to the G7+7 countries to help end the CCP’s forced organ harvesting. The Group of Seven (G7) members include: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan. Those who signed the petition expressed their solidarity with Chinese practitioners and the hope that the human rights abuses will end soon.

Admiration for Falun Dafa Practitioners in China

Young athlete José was very interested in the art exhibition. He said it was important to show the way practitioners are persecuted in China through realistic paintings, “In reality, it is a protest that touches one’s soul because one cannot imagine how they remove the organs from a person who is still alive. They do not even sedate them. This shows their contempt for human beings.”

José encouraged Falun Dafa practitioners to continue exposing the persecution.

He added that he had great admiration for the practitioners in China, for the way they have been faithful to their belief, despite the persecution to which they have been subjected by that totalitarian state. He said that he encouraged them to continue with the courage they have shown so far.

Artist: The CCP’s Actions Violate Human Rights

Mr. Alberto, who is an artist, was interested in the paintings. He said, “They are very well executed and tell a story of the horrors that some countries have gone through because of the genocides that happened and that governments are complacent with this.”

Mr. Alberto praised the artworks.

When he learned about the persecution, he also commented on other human rights violations that he knew about: “Not allowing women to have more than one child, so that became an appalling genocide, and the abortions were in the millions. It is very painful, so it is the biggest slaughter of humanity, and they [the CCP] don’t want people to know the barbarities they do. They should respect human rights, but they cover up [their crimes] so that people won’t know. That’s why they prohibit people from spreading information about the things they do. What they are doing in China violates human rights.”

Many people were dismayed to learn about the CCP’s persecution, which is rarely reported in the state media.

Afterward, practitioners went to Boyacá Avenue, where a parade is held on July 20 every year, since July 20 is Colombia’s Independence Day. They passed out thousands of flyers. Many people were dismayed to learn that Falun Dafa practitioners in China are subjected to the CCP’s forced organ harvesting and jailed in brainwashing institutes just for practicing a meditation and following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

[Minghui.org] Colombia: Locals Impressed by Practitioners’ Commitment to Spirituality at Awareness Event

“As for the three principles on which Falun Dafa is based—Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance—I think they are fundamental and universal. Compassion is something we need to practice as a society,” she said. 

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners from different areas of Colombia gathered in the city of Tunja on November 1, 2025, the day before the seventh Colombian cultivation experience sharing conference.

They held a demonstration of the Falun Dafa exercises in an outdoor area at the Unicentro shopping center. Although the city’s climate is cold due to its high altitude—2800 meters above sea level—it is also known for its warm, friendly people, and has a reputation for being an academic center of Colombia, home to many universities.

In this environment of open conversation and thought, practitioners contributed their voices to the discussion. They handed out flyers to inform passersby about the benefits of the practice and to help people learn about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Practitioners also performed with waist drums, which made an impression on the Tunja residents who were passing by in the afternoon.

Practitioners raised awareness about the CCP’s persecution since 1999 and how this persecution has caused countless deaths, many of them victims of state-sanctioned forced organ removal.

Many people were stunned to hear about the persecution of Falun Dafa, as they did not know that the Chinese regime had resorted to these barbaric practices. Practitioners also collected signatures to denounce the persecution, both in China and around the world. Many people signed the Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) petition calling to stop the atrocities.

Practitioners’ Commitment to Spirituality Impresses Journalist

Jorge Valero is an educational consultant who runs a local newspaper called Infomedia. He already knew about Falun Dafa through a friend who is a practitioner, and said that the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are very appealing to him.

“Seeing the gathering here today, I feel something very special, very beautiful. It is not common to find such a large group committed to their spirituality. It is also something new for the public, and I find it very valuable that you are disseminating and making known what Falun Dafa is,” he said.

He said the CCP’s persecution has significance not only for those who suffer from it, but for all of humanity. “Every person should be free to do, think, and be where he or she wants to be,” he said.

Jorge Valero was impressed by the presence of the spiritual group.

Musician: “We All Need More Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance”

Rubi Salamanca has a degree in music and teaches theater and singing. After observing the practitioners demonstrating the exercises, she said: “I feel a kind of illusion, like I want to be there with them doing the exercises. I sense an energy of peace, tranquility, and even healing.”

Although she had seen practitioners before in a park, she had thought they were practicing some kind of Tai Chi. Now, after having more direct contact with the practice, she said that she finds it very beautiful.

“As for the three principles on which Falun Dafa is based—Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance—I think they are fundamental and universal. Compassion is something we need to practice as a society,” she said. “Forbearance, likewise, is essential; just look at everyday situations, such as when in traffic no one knows whether to yield or to move forward. We need to apply these principles to improve as a human community. It is a reflection that arises even at this very moment as we see the practice.”

She disapproved of the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. “I think that when someone tries to do something good they often face situations like this. We must be consistent, and support just causes, even though it is inevitable to feel outrage and, at the same time, fear. Fear at the thought of how someone can persecute and mistreat another human being, denying him or her the right to live a full life. I am completely against [the persecution],” she said.

Rubi Salamanca was moved by the peaceful energy of the Falun Dafa exercises.

Nurse: Forced Organ Harvesting “Deeply Inhumane”

Nursing assistant Sandra Lopez learned about Falun Dafa and its principles and was impressed by the practice. She said Falun Dafa “conveys peace, tranquility and a message that can significantly contribute to the well-being of those who know and practice it.”

She said the practitioners’ efforts to raise awareness of the persecution was very valuable.

“As a nurse’s aide, I consider the situation of forced organ removal from Falun Dafa practitioners to be deeply inhumane,” she said.

Sara, a young high school student, said that it was important to tell the world about the persecution of Falun Dafa. After talking with a practitioner, she said, “I think it’s great that they are bringing awareness to these issues, which are almost unheard of. It’s something that we should prioritize. Even if it’s not happening in this country or on this continent, it does affect us directly and indirectly.”

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners gathered at a tourist site in the city of Medellin, Colombia, on July 20, 2023, to raise awareness about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 24-year-long persecution. They held their event in the popular park, Parque Explora, where they distributed fliers and collected signatures on a petition to end the persecution.

July 20th happened to be Colombia’s Independence Day. So many Colombians were at the park enjoying the holiday and stopped to speak with practitioners. Many people who were unfamiliar with the practice were surprised by the persecution, especially by the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from Falun Dafa practitioners.

During the activity, practitioners also collected signatures for the “End the CCP” petition organized by the Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party, to condemn the CCP for its numerous human rights violations. Many Colombians were interested, especially when they learned how the CCP harms not only Chinese people, but the entire world. More than 100 people signed the petition that day.

The Persecution Affects All of Us

Sara, a young high school student, said that it was important to tell the world about the persecution of Falun Dafa. After talking with a practitioner, she said, “I think it’s great that they are bringing awareness to these issues, which are almost unheard of. It’s something that we should prioritize. Even if it’s not happening in this country or on this continent, it does affect us directly and indirectly.”

Sara said the benefits of practicing Falun Dafa are wonderful and believes that the CCP has committed a grave crime in suppressing something so positive. “I practice yoga and it seems to me that this practice of Falun Dafa is very good, that it can connect everyone, it is for all people,” she said. “And I think it is very wrong that they have banned it and also that they continue to do it.”

She signed the petition, and said she hopes her signature will help stop the CCP’s violation of the human rights of Falun Dafa practitioners and other spiritual followers in China.

People Should Have Freedom of Belief

Adriana has a refreshment stand at the park where practitioners held their event. She was curious about their event and chatted with a practitioner. She was saddened by the abuse suffered by practitioners of all ages in China.

She became upset when she learned how some practitioners who do not harm anyone are being persecuted, and that the persecution even affects children. She said, “Other countries must know about this and should look for a solution. Do something for those children who are growing up enslaved. The other countries should do something and allow people to have freedom to practice their spiritual belief.”

Elaine: This Persecution Should Be Known

Elaine and her daughter Andrea are originally from Venezuela. Coming from a country with an authoritarian government, they sympathized with the practitioners in China.

Elaine encouraged practitioners in their efforts to tell people about the persecution. “This persecution that is happening in China needs to be known,” she said. She hopes practitioners in China will remain resilient and said she is certain that the persecution will be over one day.

That evening, practitioners held a candlelight vigil to commemorate those practitioners who were persecuted to death in China.
