[Minghui.org] Finland: Clarifying the Truth in Helsinki (Photos)

Passengers and pedestrians were attracted by the beautiful Falun Gong music and the relaxing and elegant exercise demonstration and stopped to watch. A lot of people surrounded the photo exhibition board to have a clear view. Some could not wait to read the fliers. Others requested more details or asked questions. 

(Clearwisdom.net) On the 26th of November, 2005, the first snow arrived in Helsinki, a month later than usual. In order for people to hear the truth about Falun Gong, practitioners moved the truth-clarifying venue from outside the Helsinki railway station to the lobby connecting the railway station and the subway.

At noon, practitioners set up an exhibition of articles and photos about the spread of Falun Gong and the 6-year brutal persecution of practitioners in China since July 20, 1999, headed by Jiang Zemin in collusion with the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). Practitioners also demonstrated the peaceful Falun Gong exercises. Some practitioners distributed materials about the practice and the ongoing persecution in China.

Some people asked: “Why would China persecute such a good practice?” 

A practitioner said that he thought it was because former CCP leader Jiang Zemin was envious and fearful. Jiang was afraid his rule would be threatened by Falun Gong, which at the time outnumbered the CCP. Out of irrational fear and jealousy, he thus started the persecution. However, the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, a series of editorials by the Epoch Times published at the end of last year, pointed out clearly that the evil nature of the CCP prompted the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who practice “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance”. However, evil can never defeat righteousness. Since the publication of the “Nine Commentaries” last year, nearly six million Chinese citizens have withdrawn from the communist party. It will not be long before the CCP is destroyed. The practitioners said, “We are here today to tell the Finnish people the true story of Falun Gong and hope that the people of the world can bring to an end this inhumane persecution together with us.” 

One person said, “When a large number of people work together, it will generate enormous energy. Good luck to you!”

[Minghui.org] Western Practitioner in Finland Thanks Master Li for His Teachings

His father often buys lottery tickets. He once asked Nazareno, “Don’t you want to win the lottery?” Nazareno answered, “No, I work for money. It is not a good thing if you get money from a lottery without any effort.”

(Minghui.org) May 13, 2021, was the 70th birthday of the founder of Falun Dafa, Master Li Hongzhi. Nazareno, an environmental artist, wanted to express his most sincere appreciation to Master Li for renewing his life.

Nazareno started cultivating Falun Dafa, also called Falun Gong, in 2017 in Canada. He moved to Finland last year.

For two months before I started practicing I was very sick, so I visited a few doctors and took some tests, but they said I was OK. I sometimes had difficulty balancing, even though I was able to walk. It was a difficult time for me so I went to the practice site and asked to learn the exercises.

A friend of his told him about Falun Dafa and suggested that he go to a local group exercise site that held free workshops every weekend.

Nazareno had always been interested in spiritual pursuits, so he went and did all five exercises. Although he could not stay in the double-lotus position for the meditation, the practitioners at the practice site were amazed that he sat there for an hour.

Great changes happened to Nazareno after he started cultivating. “I felt better and better,” he said. “These changes happened gradually. The stress was gone. I gained inner peace. It was very helpful to me.”

Nazareno found answers to his questions about life in Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong. “I came to better understandings of things such as karma. I now have fewer concerns,” he said.

He also recognized the mistakes he made when he was young. “Now, I know why it was wrong to do those things. You must pay for what you did.”

His family and friends also sensed the changes in him. “After cultivating for a year, my thoughts and values changed. I didn’t get angry easily, and my father saw this.”

“My values and viewpoints have changed,” Nazareno said.

Cultivation has also positively impacted his work.

“Now that I am more relaxed I can focus better on the work. My job can be very stressful but now I try to be more patient and help other people first,” he said.

Nazareno told his colleagues about the persecution and asked them to sign a petition to protest it.

“They have all learned the truth about Falun Gong and support its peaceful protests. Falun Gong teaches Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The persecution has been going on for more than two decades. People should recognize the evilness of the Chinese Communist Party and condemn the persecution that causes the deaths of innocent people,” he said.

Nazareno wished Master Li a happy birthday and said sincerely, “Thank you, Master, for the teachings.”

“Since then I didn’t need to take any painkillers or suffer from insomnia. Before I also had heart problems, but now I don’t need any pills. The practice does a lot of good things”, says Anja.

(Clearwisdom.net) Instead of morning coffee, the Pekkarinen family in Oulu begin their day with meditation. Without it, the Falun Gong practitioners, Anja and Veijo Pekkarinen don’t feel properly awakened. “The exercise makes you wake up, it cleans the mind and makes you alert,” says Anja. The Pekkarinen family learned it four years ago.

“Since then I didn’t need to take any painkillers or suffer from insomnia. Before I also had heart problems, but now I don’t need any pills. The practice does a lot of good things”, says Anja. When Anja’s husband discovered positive changes in her, he also got interested to try. “Something just fell into place, – even if we have been interested in these types of things before,” says Veijo.

Effective practice

The best of all is that you are not tied up to anything. It doesn’t cost anything, everything is unselfish. And nobody is dragged in. The couple say they do the exercises every day from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

You become warm and calm after the energy begins to move. Veijo adds that in one practice you even can get sweaty, even though the movements are slow. So there must be some effect after all. During the practice the eyes are kept closed and the movements are done as correctly as possible.

At the same time you should be aware of your surrounding environment, and you should not get into a trance. During the summer the practitioners in Oulu gather once a week to do the practice in Linnasaari Park. Passersby wonder about the group of people doing the peaceful practice so synchronized.

“People are interested in what we are doing and they tell us that when watching us doing the exercises they also calm down. Children can even sit next to us and watch,” Anja exclaimed.

Because practitioners strive to reach as clean a mind as possible and to consider other people, the Pekkarinens’ marriage has also improved.

“We don’t any more have disputes about small trivial things. We try to find a solution together, not the guilty one. We are also able to look within and ask for forgiveness. When you don’t just think of advancing your own ideas, conflicts can also get quickly resolved,” Veijo thinks.

“To think of others seems to have become a strange phenomenon,” Anja fills in. Pekkarinen reminds her that nothing of course happens in the blink of an eye, “You need to practice and study in order to be able to change yourself.”

Persecution also in Finland

Last spring Falun Gong became a hot subject when Finnish practitioners were terrorized by phone.

“I got phone calls. An advanced recorded information run in English and Chinese, it said Falun Gong was bad. In the background music was played, to scare even more,” Anja says seriously.

The interference is small compared to what Falun Gong practitioners in China have to go through. There practitioners have to endure torture, because the Chinese regime has completely banned this practice.

If the practitioner moves out of China, their family members can be persecuted and be tortured. At Internet homepages there are many torture “stories” and you read them with wet eyes.

Recently Anja was harassed by the Chinese embassy.

“We have a Falun Gong photo exhibition traveling around to different libraries in the Northern part of Finland. A Chinese man called me from the embassy and asked me to end the exhibition. I know that we are doing nothing wrong so any threat doesn’t scare me.”

The photo exhibition arrives in Tornio’s main library on the October 15, 2005. Thereafter they plan to have Falun Gong introductory classes, and they hope that Tornio will soon have its own practice group.

A visitor stood in front of a tent and read the information. He told a practitioner he had already signed the petition. He said while pointing to the information about organ harvesting atrocities, “I searched for this information on the Internet, and it is all true.”

(Minghui.org) No matter how windy or snowy it gets, practitioners continue holding activities near Helsinki’s bustling Kamppi Shopping Center to introduce people to Falun Dafa, tourists and locals alike. They also tell them how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes and harvests organs from Dafa practitioners in China.

Every Saturday afternoon in November 2022, Finnish practitioners hold awareness-raising activities at the popular shopping center. Some people heard about Falun Dafa for the first time. Others said they heard about it before. Many signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution.

Practitioners displayed information about Falun Dafa and the persecution in a dark blue tent. A visitor stood in front of a tent and read the information. He told a practitioner he had already signed the petition. He said while pointing to the information about organ harvesting atrocities, “I searched for this information on the Internet, and it is all true.”

Petra from the Czech Republic had never heard of Falun Dafa before. When she learned about the persecution, she said, “It’s really scary. People are persecuted because they want to do something positive. I can’t understand why this is happening.” 

Petra’s friend Susana nodded and said, “I feel the same way. We have no idea what is happening in China. These people are crazy.”

Petra explained that because they are Czechs, they have a certain understanding of the nature of communism, so they wanted to sign to boycott communism. She also wanted to tell Chinese people who did not yet know the truth: “Look more, listen more, and learn more information. Change often begins with the people at the bottom, from the people. Just like my country, when people realize that enough is enough, they took to the streets.” Finally, the two of them laughed and encouraged in unison, “Never give up! Be strong and fight!”

On Saturday, Armando, a member of the Finnish Green Party, happened to be passing by and saw the event. He said, “I fully support human rights around the world. If you don’t fight for peace for yourself, you can’t bring peace to the world.”

A girl asked for more information when she saw practitioners demonstrating the exercises and distributing leaflets. After learning about the brutal persecution in China, she immediately signed the petition. She turned around and relayed the information to her friend. Her friend picked up a pen on the table and wanted to sign the petition. But due to the cold weather, the pen was frozen. The girl rubbed the tip of the pen with her thumb until it was ready to write, then handed it to her friend to sign.

A 96-year-old woman chatted with a practitioner while leaning on a cane. She said, “I can fully understand that this is the CCP, this is communism. The world today is much changed and chaotic. Compared with the previous era, people have become crazy. People used to be honest and moral. Although a lot of things happened, we still have to stay positive.” She was interested in learning the exercises. She agreed with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She happily accepted a paper-folded lotus flower presented by a practitioner, and immediately tied it on her bag belt. 

“This persecution must be stopped. There are too many unrighteous things in the current world. But I believe that there is still love in the world, and I hope I can be a better person,” said Annikka, a local resident. While chatting with her, a practitioner handed her a lotus flower, “There is a saying in traditional Chinese culture that good will be rewarded with good.” She said happily, “It seems that I have done the right thing, and this lotus is my birthday present.”

Background: What Is Falun Dafa and Why Is the CCP Persecuting It?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people who have embraced the teachings, which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and have learned the five exercises, have experienced improved health and well-being.

Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology and on July 20, 1999, he issued an order to eradicate the practice.

Under Jiang’s personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 23 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. Countless practitioners have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply China’s organ transplant industry.

The practitioner continued to introduce that Chinese culture is one of the oldest cultures in the world, with a history spanning thousands of years, and that Falun Dafa teaches traditional Chinese wisdom and emphasizes the importance of moral values.

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners were invited to introduce Falun Dafa to 35 students at Tikkurilan High School (Tikkurilan Lukio) in Vantaa, Finland, on March 16, 2023. Both teachers and students learned the exercises.

Schools in Finland generally offer courses about religious beliefs. Every year, teachers from various schools invite Falun Dafa practitioners to talk to students to give students an opportunity to learn about Falun Dafa in depth.

A practitioner told the students at Tikkurilan High School what Falun Dafa is, how Falun Dafa was widely spread in China before 1999, and how the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) has been persecuting Falun Dafa since 1999.

He told the students that the China Sports Commission had estimated “the number of Falun Dafa practitioners reached 70-100 million before 1999. That was more than the number of Chinese Communist Party members at the time.”

The practitioner continued to introduce that Chinese culture is one of the oldest cultures in the world, with a history spanning thousands of years, and that Falun Dafa teaches traditional Chinese wisdom and emphasizes the importance of moral values.

He said that a Falun Dafa practitioner should consider others in any situation. “A practitioner not only practices exercises, but also asks himself to be a good person and cultivate his character.” Practitioners refer to this as finding attachments. For example, when things are not going well, a practitioner will look within to see where he or she did wrong. Such a process is very beneficial to one’s physical and mental health.

A teacher asked, “What is the criterion for being a good person?” The practitioner explained, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are the principles of cultivation in Falun Dafa. It is to follow the criterion of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

The practitioner explained the persecution of Falun Dafa in China that was launched in 1999 by the CCP and its then leader, Jiang Zemin. The practitioner told the students that the crimes committed against practitioners, including organ harvesting from living practitioners, have been exposed one after another, shocking the world. Independent investigators David Matas and David Kilgour published their first report in 2006, detailing their research into organ harvesting from living Falun Dafa practitioners in China. The issue received international attention.

A teacher, who once worked in the European Union, asked, “What is the current situation with the persecution of Falun Dafa outside of China?”

“The CCP has been harassing practitioners overseas for a long time,” the practitioner replied. “They actually harassed some practitioners in Finland over the phone.” The practitioner explained that Chen Yonglin, a former consul in the Chinese consulate in Australia, testified before the US Congress that at least one official in every Chinese embassy must be in charge of work related to persecuting Falun Dafa. As far as Chen was aware, more than a thousand Chinese agents and informants were operating in Australia.

The practitioner gave two more examples. One was about a professor at a university in Finland who tried to stop practitioners from playing a documentary on campus exposing the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa. The other example was Chinese embassy staff demanding the Tampere Theater in Finland revoke its performance contract with Shen Yun Performing Arts in 2008, because the performance contained scenes describing the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa. “The Tampere Theater rejected the threat from the Chinese embassy,” the practitioner said.

Some students asked, “Is Falun Dafa political? Or did the CCP label it political to use that as a pretense to attack Falun Dafa?” The practitioner explained that Falun Dafa is not interested in politics, and has no political agenda. “After the persecution began, what practitioners do is to tell the world the true nature of the CCP, and call on the Chinese people to withdraw from the CCP and stop following the evil.” He said that more than 400 million Chinese people have withdrawn from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, because they don’t want to follow the evil CCP.

A teacher accepted a gift, a folded lotus flower, from the practitioner at the end of the class. She thanked the practitioner, “The content of this speech was very good for the students. Thank you very much for coming, and we welcome you to come again next time.”
