China’s Organ Harvesting Exposed in Taiwan Universities
May 20, 2023 | By Xia Yun, a Minghui correspondent in Taichung, Taiwan
“A regime that depends on propaganda for many of its purposes can not stand the truth because truth hurts. If everyone knows the truth, they will know that the CCP is lying all the time,” she said.
(Minghui.org) A series of activities were held in two universities in the city of Taichung from May 2 to May 15, 2023, to raise awareness about the persecution of Falun Dafa. The events also exposed the unimaginable crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Dafa practitioners incarcerated for upholding their faith.
Taiwan Association for International Care of Organ Transplant hosted both events. The organizers said they hoped to draw the attention of the local residents, faculty, and students to the persecution through displays of award-winning posters, documentaries, and discussion forums. The more people are aware of it, the faster the atrocity would end.
The documentary “Human Harvest” was screened at National Chung Hsing University on May 15, 2023, followed by a discussion forum.
Ms. Chen Ya-Hui, a Taichung City Councilor, watched the documentary “Human Harvest” on May 15, 2023. She was shocked by the violence against humanity and voiced her support for the motion to fight organ harvesting.
Ms. Ye was a medical professional. She said that live organ harvesting is an unpardonable crime, and more people should know about it.
Posters that won awards in the International Competition of Anti-Organ Harvesting were displayed in Tunghai University on May 2.
The documentary “Human Harvest” depicts how the Chinese government targeted prisoners of conscience, especially Falun Dafa practitioners, and harvested their organs for sale while they were still alive. The findings came from the independent investigations by David Matas, a human rights attorney and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, and David Kilgour, a human rights activist and former member of the Canadian Parliament.
Councilwoman: No One Should Have Their Organs Harvested Alive
After watching the documentary, Taichung City Councilor Chen Ya-Hui said that her father accompanied a friend years ago to China to have an organ transplant surgery. They were told that the organ came from a death-row prisoner. “It’s quite a shock,” she said after knowing that the organ came from an innocent living person. “It’s impossible to have that many people die and donate their organs every day. The number of transplants was unfathomable.”
Taichung City Councilor Chen Ya-Hui said that no one should have their organs harvested against their will.
Ms. Chen said she often saw Falun Dafa practitioners meditating in the park when she went there for morning exercises. She believed that no one should have their organs taken against his will, especially for such a big peaceful group being the main target in the crime. “We are all human beings and we should not take organs from others just because we want to live,” she stressed that everyone should receive organs from legal donations, not killing.
She continued to say that live organ harvesting was cruel. In Taiwan, if someone disappears, the authorities would try their best to find him or her. It’s absolutely not permitted for someone to be killed for their organs in Taiwan. She would jointly sign the motion against organ harvesting in the City Council.
Medical Professional: Live Organ Harvesting Related to Everyone
Ms. Ye came to watch the film because she was a medical professional and was curious about the topic of organ transplants. She believed that live organ harvesting was especially evil. “In Taiwan, organ donation is sacred with strict protocols,” she said. When she knew that the organs in China came from unwilling donors while they were still alive, she said, “It is evil to treat people like animals, and the perpetrators deserved severe punishment.”
Because of her profession, she knew that many people went to China for organ transplants. However, many Chinese people hold the view to “keep one’s body intact after they die, thus the concept of organ donation has always been hard to be widely adopted. As a result, she was suspicious where such a high volume of organs came from. After watching the documentary, she said, “This is not only a medical issue, but an issue that will effect everyone in the entire society.”
She also learned about the persecution of Falun Dafa, and that the practitioners were the main victims in live organ harvesting. She did not know much about Falun Dafa before watching the film. When she learned that the practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, she knew why the CCP chose to persecute this group of people.
“A regime that depends on propaganda for many of its purposes can not stand the truth because truth hurts. If everyone knows the truth, they will know that the CCP is lying all the time,” she said.
“It’s important to raise awareness to let more people know about the persecution,” she said such information needed to be shared with everyone in the society because people may one day need such information to make the right decision.

A former journalist for the Chinese Communist Party (YIFEI WANG), living in exile in San Francisco, struggles to settle into life in America while working to heal her family’s wounds from their tragic past. She is seeking justice for the murder of her sister at the hands of the Chinese authorities.
Rare undercover footage of a meeting with the director of the labor camp where Yifei’s sister was killed reveals shocking admissions of torture, slave labor, corruption, and a general disregard for human life pervading the camp system today.
Exclusive interviews with former Chinese Communist Party officials provide a unique insight into the hidden world of terror that many Chinese citizens live without ever knowing that life can, and does, exist with freedom outside their world.
BACKGROUND
“Finding Courage” pulls back the veil on the much overlooked, misunderstood, and under-reported Falun Gong community, whose unexpected persistence for religious freedom in China has become the sharpest thorn in the side of the world’s largest dictatorship. Falun Gong (also Falun Dafa) is a Buddhist-based spiritual discipline that includes meditation and stretching exercises, and adherence to the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance. Falun Gong was reportedly practiced by 100 million people in 1999.
The persecution against Falun Gong is the longest-running persecution campaign by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against its own citizens. The failure of the CCP to eradicate Falun Gong (which former Chinese dictator, Jiang Zemin vowed to do in 1999) has resulted in a total media blackout by the CCP on the popular practice. No Chinese media or media affiliated with the Chinese regime is allowed to report on Falun Gong. This has effectively silenced even media outlets in the West and allowed the CCP to continue to use brutal tactics of torture and brainwashing against Falun Gong practitioners throughout China to this day.
Editor’s Note: Dear readers, do you know that Falun Dafa, originally from China, is currently practiced by people in over 100 countries? But in China, since Jul. 20, 1999, Falun Gong is defamed, slandered and persecuted due to the Chinese Communist Party’s fear of Falun Gong’s rapidly growing popularity. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party, perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology.

As millions of Australian families prepare to celebrate Father’s Day to honour their paternal bonds, for Sydney refugee Eric Jia, his version of Father’s Day is a lonely affair.
The last time he saw his father Ye Jia was 15 years-ago when he was 3-years-old. This father and son were forcefully split by China’s one-party state, simply because Ye Jia wanted to meditate and follow his beliefs.

He practices Falun Gong, a traditional Chinese meditation and spiritual practice based on the principles of ‘Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance’. It rose to popularity in China in the 1990’s, with over 100 million people experiencing its health benefits.

These numbers proved too overwhelming for the Chinese regime, which with around 60 million communist members at the time, saw the practice as a threat. Former dictator Jiang Zemin initiated a country-wide crackdown and persecution against the peaceful movement, that hasn’t waned since it began on July 20, 1999.

As days and months turned into years, the state-sanctioned persecution has taken a heavy toll on fathers, sons and families alike, who have suffered severely and have too often been torn apart.
In modern China torture is a routine component of law-enforcement and punishment. Jiang Zemin issued his famous edict, “It is not a crime to beat a Falun Gong practitioner to death.” (en.minghui.org/)
Eric and his father’s story is the subject of a new short film, “Split by the State”, its release comes on Father’s Day.
The film’s director Gina Shakespeare said: “this film is dedicated to prisoners of conscience, like Ye Jia, who today number in their millions. It’s also an exposé of the Chinese regime’s relentless use of physical and psychological torture against Falun Gong adherents and their families, told through a young man’s heart.”
Ms Shakespeare recalled being deeply touched as she read Eric Jia’s original letter he wrote to Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in 2016, pleading to save his dad from a Chinese prison.
“I knew Eric’s story needed to be told and that the letter he wrote was actually the beginning of a powerful script, one that would also move others” she said.
“Hearing that his dad was spending eight years in a Chinese prison, had been tortured, starved and subjected to filthy and inhumane living conditions, I could never fathom this type of ill-treatment, this just doesn’t happen in Australia” said Ms Shakespeare.
“Eric possesses an incredible resilience and determination. His desire for justice and to be reunited with his father, after all this time has never diminished. I really hope the Prime Minister can pressure China to release Eric’s dad urgently.”

Eric spends a good deal of time assisting other Falun Gong families still imprisoned in China by speaking out at rallies, collecting signatures for petitions and even calling prisons in mainland China. Surely something his father would be proud of.
You can also help Eric and his family by sharing the film and by visiting this website and signing the petition.
