Products Made by Slave Labor at Liaoning Province Women’s Prison and Other Facilities

By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China
(Minghui.org) Liaoning Province Women’s Prison, formerly known as Dabei Women’s Prison, in Shenyang City is an evil den where Falun Gong practitioners are persecuted. At least 20 practitioners have died as a result of physical torture at this prison.
In addition to mistreating practitioners physically, prison officials have also forced practitioners and criminal inmates to do slave labor. Officials’ bonuses are closely connected to the amount of slave labor products manufactured. Therefore, officials exhaust every effort to maximize profits while ignoring the detainees’ living conditions. Below are some slave products often made at this prison, where each division is responsible for making certain types of products.
Division 1
Paper products: bank envelopes, file folders, paper bags, and toothpick holders, as well as various packing boxes, moon-cake boxes, bread bags (for Taoli Food Plant in Shenyang City), hamburger boxes, medicine boxes, shoe boxes, cosmetic boxes, posters, and advertisements. Books, including school textbooks, are also finished here.
Sewn products: winter coats, bras, and uniforms.
Handmade goods: “ghost” props sold to Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Black cloth was made into clothes, stuffed with low-grade cotton, and “arms,” “legs,” and “heads” were then put on. The props were colored to make them look scary. Batteries were placed in the heads so that these “ghosts” screamed when powered on. Their hats were made of white gauze and painted red. Broken glass pieces were glued on the hats to make the “ghosts” look like wounded patients. These “ghosts” were then reportedly sold overseas as Halloween toys. The sources of raw materials included mostly garbage, rubber, and dyes. They were very dirty, had a strong smell, and were very toxic.
Division 7
Handmade cotton applicators, made in the Unit of Elderly and Disabled Detainees. Detainees were often unable to wash their hands after using the toilet. Many detainees had infectious diseases and sexually transmitted diseases.
Division 10
Unit 1: car cushions. Manufacturers provided equipment and paid rental fees for the facility. Detainees were also forced to make long flower strings by inserting petals into plastic stems. It was a difficult task and everybody had a heavy workload assignment. Detainees who could not finish their assignments in the facility had to take materials into their cells and finish the workload there.
Unit 2: bras, underwear, pajamas, and other items. Manufacturers also paid rental fees for the facility in this unit.
Unit 4: cosmetics. Manufacturers rented facitilities for filling and packaging cosmetics.
Units 3 and 5: clothing, including Feilong Brand pants, camouflage uniforms, clothes for Dalian Foreign Trade and Dandong Foreign Trade, winter coats for electricians, military uniforms, clothes for Wuaijie Wholesale Outlet, and children’s clothes. Detainees in these two units are forced to work more than 12 hours a day, sometimes until after midnight. Prison head Dai Jing once forced detainees to work overtime doing cross-stitching. Sometimes they had to work through the whole night for several consecutive several days.
A paper ladybug product was also made here. After finishing work at 7 p.m. and returning to their cells, every detainee in the division had to continue working overtime on this product. Some people worked till after midnight, and some had to work through the whole night to finish their assigned workload, since a new 12-hour workload was assigned and had to be completed each day.
Products made by slave labor in other prisons, labor camps, and detention centers in Liaoning Province

Detainees at the prison are subjected to slave labor for 14 to 16 hours a day. Everyone unable to finish the workload is scolded and fined.
