[Minghui.org] Taiwan: Documentary ‘State Organs’ Screened Over 200 Times, Locals Undeterred by Threats

Nov. 19, 2024 | By Falun Gong practitioners in Taiwan

One audience member said, “It’s very hard to imagine that this forced organ harvesting is taking place. The CCP has reached its end and is engaging in the fight like a trapped beast. Everyone should support Falun Gong.”

(Minghui.org) After the award-winning documentary State Organs, which exposes the forced organ harvesting carried out by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), was screened in Taiwan in October 2024, the organizer and theaters received threatening letters. Officials, including members of the Kaohsiung City Council, the Chiayi County Council, and the Changhua County Council, who supported the screenings, also received threatening letters. Locals ignored the threats and saw the film anyway. By November 10, the film had been shown 287 times in Taiwan. On November 1, theaters in Yilan, Nangang District, Yonghe District, Taoyuan, and Kaohsiung scheduled additional screenings of the film.

Changhua County Councilor Chuang Sheng-han said the council received threatening messages such as, “We will place bombs in all the cinemas that schedule State Organs, and they will be detonated during the screening.” The Changhua police department investigated and conducted security checks at the county council and service center. The police also assisted with and ensured the safety of the screenings.

Voices of Support from Chiayi County

On the afternoon of November 1, a screening and post-screening discussion were held at the Chiayi County Council. Magistrate of Chiayi County Weng Chang-liang, head of Yijhu Township Huang Cheng-chieh, and several County Councilors attended. They and other attendees condemned the CCP’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong and urged the Taiwanese people to cherish the freedom and democracy that are not obtained easily.

Attorney Yang Chiung-ya

Attorney Yang Chiung-ya, the chairperson of the Chiayi Bar Association, said that under the CCP, China is not a country that follows the rule of law. It has persecuted Falun Gong for a long time and forced organ harvesting is a crime against humanity. She urged all the people that are involved in forced organ harvesting to give up these acts.

“Hopefully this film, ‘State Organs,’ can let the public see and truly realize the cruel side of the CCP. Then everyone can use their strength and international strength to urge the CCP to stop committing evil deeds and stop the persecution.”

Chiayi County Councilor Liu Ya-wen

Chiayi County Councilor Liu Ya-wen said that people will have a deeper understanding of Falun Gong after watching this documentary, because it shows things that are typically not visible to the public; the CCP is very cruel towards Falun Gong practitioners; forced organ harvesting is scary and it’s almost hard to imagine a person having their organs removed without being anesthetized; this is pretty much torture, so this film really shocks people.

Yijhu Township head Huang Cheng-chieh signs the petition to support Falun Gong.

Yijhu Township head Huang Cheng-chieh said, “Free will is a universal value. How such a universal value is implemented for every person is very important—including how Falun Gong practitioners are suffering persecution due to a system as mentioned in the documentary. Whether it’s physical or mental persecution, I think this area needs to be protected.”

Kaohsiung City Councilors from Different Parties Watch Film Together

The film was screened at the Kaohsiung City Council on the afternoon of November 2. Around 200 people attended, including Councilors from different political parties: Chen Li-na, Chang Po-yang, Lee Ya-hui, Cheng Meng-ju, and Chiu Chun-Hsien.

Councilor Chang Po-yang from the Taiwan Statebuilding Party said regarding the threat messages received by the Council, “Intimidation by the CCP’s minions did not seem to achieve its effect. Not only did we not get scared, it allowed more people to discuss the topic of forced organ harvesting and they wished to learn about the film even more!”

Mr. Chang also said, “State Organs tells a story that is very sad. This is the most unjust thing taking place under the CCP’s rule. Anyone that learns the truth about Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted and having their organs harvested while they are alive will feel sympathetic and sad. At this point, we can’t help but ask ourselves whether we can do something, or use our own strength to spread the message and deliver it to more people.

“The real stories in State Organs allows Taiwanese to know more about the true face of the communist party and allows more people to be determined to defend democracy and freedom that are not obtained easily,” he said. He added, “Hopefully more voices of justice get heard, so the CCP can feel the condemnation of its unlawful atrocities from different countries around the world, and then immediately stop the atrocities of persecuting Falun Gong and forced organ harvesting.”

Screening in Tainan

On November 2, the film was screened in Tainan, and more than 300 people attended. Members of the Legislative Yuan, Wang Ting-yu and Lin Chun-Hsien organized groups to attend the screening. Several village heads also brought groups to the theater. Even though the hosting organization received threats, the event attracted more audience members to learn about the organ harvesting.

State Organs is screened in Tainan

Tainan City Councilor Li Chi-wei said that the CCP’s forced organ harvesting is cruel persecution that is against humanity. The free world values the most basic safety of one’s body and life, but the evil deed of forced organ harvesting exists under the CCP, which is truly unacceptable. He urged more people to watch State Organs, learn the truth about the CCP’s evil deeds of forced organ harvesting, and stand up together to stop the CCP from continuing to harvest organs, as the CCP has committed crimes against humanity.

Siaosimen Village head Tseng Chun-jen and office chief for legislator Lin Chun-hsien said that China is a dictatorship without human rights. He firmly opposed the CCP’s cruel act of extracting Falun Gong practitioners’ organs and then selling them. He said that practitioners are kind people and this is a very brutal persecution. He urged people who have a conscience to quickly come out and resist this violence, and oppose the CCP’s acts of persecuting humankind. He said that there is strength as long as everyone is united.

Retired college lecturer Lu Tsung-ju said that he originally thought the threats against the screening of State Organs were isolated incidents, and never thought that they were happening throughout Taiwan. He said the CCP is afraid of the truth being exposed and its intimidation and hacking are its typical behavior. As for the story of two families told in the documentary, he believes that they portray the fate of many people who are suffering under the CCP’s totalitarian regime. Watching the film made him feel like he personally experienced what’s taking place in China. He was stunned. He believes that humankind will eventually head toward brightness. Although the people that were lost cannot be retrieved, righteous principles, righteous laws, and the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance will forever be present.

Li Cheng-hsiung, deputy general manager of Lion Film and Television Culture Co., the film’s distributor in Taiwan, and a former attorney general for the Ministry of National Defense in southern Taiwan, joined the post-screening discussion. One audience member said, “It’s very hard to imagine that this forced organ harvesting is taking place. The CCP has reached its end and is engaging in the fight like a trapped beast. Everyone should support Falun Gong.”

Another audience member said, “I feel sad after watching it. We need to urge people to not go to China for organ transplants. The CCP’s threatening theaters to not play the film will only make more people want to watch it. The way to respond to these threats is to play the film even more.”

Another audience member said, “Some people in Taiwan are confused when it comes to the CCP. The CCP says nice things but does otherwise. Only by reading the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party will one not be misled by the CCP’s propaganda.”

Editor’s Note: Dear readers, do you know that Falun Dafa, originally from China, is currently practiced by people in over 100 countries? But in China, since Jul. 20, 1999, Falun Gong is defamed, slandered and persecuted due to the Chinese Communist Party’s fear of Falun Gong’s rapidly growing popularity. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology.
