Broadcasting Programs on China's TV Stations is Not a Crime—Clarifying the Facts About Falun Gong Will Not Stop Until the Persecution is Stopped

July 07, 2012 | By Xu Jing

(Minghui.org) At about eight o’clock on the evening of March 5, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners in Jilin Province used broadcasting technology and inserted short TV programs (“Falun Dafa Spreads around the World”, “The Truth of the Self-immolation Hoax” etc.) on eight TV channels in Changchun for up to 50 minutes. One hundred thousand television viewers learned the facts about the persecution. This caused the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) to tremble in fear. Within a short period of time, the CCP had arrested more than 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun. During the massive arrest, at least seven Falun Gong practitioners were beaten to death, and 15 practitioners were sentenced to long prison terms. Jiang Zemin gave the order to “pardon” those who had killed Falun Gong practitioners who were directly involved in broadcasting the programs.
Ten years later in June 2012, Mr. Zhong Dingbang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Taiwan and a manager at a high-tech company in Hsinchu, went to Jiangxi Province to visit relatives. He was arrested by CCP police on his way back to Taiwan at Ganzhou Airport. The Xinhua News Agency issued a notice on June 27, which said that Mr. Zhong and others used professional technology repeatedly to attack and interfere with mainland Chinese television programs and satellite signals, and said they were “endangering national security”.
During the massive arrest ten years ago, among the Falun Gong practitioners who were involved in the broadcasting of Falun Gong programs, Mr. Liang Zhenxing and Mr. Liu Chengjun were sentenced to 19 years in prison; Mr. Zhou Runjun and Liu Weiming were sentenced to 20 years in prison. Later in prison, Mr. Liu Chengjun, Mr. Lei Ming and Mr. Liang Zhenxing were tortured to death. Under the leadership of Jiang Zemin, the CCP used the nation’s apparatus during the persecution to fabricate not only the self-immolation hoax at Tiananmen Square, but also to slander the founder of Falun Gong and even secretly harvest organs from Falun Gong practitioners who were still alive for profit.
Facing this persecution, in the past thirteen years, overseas Falun Gong practitioners have never stopped spreading the truth about Falun Gong. After losing all the rights to speech and seeking justice, “inserting” Falun Gong programs in mainland China’s TV networks became the last resort. Some commentators praised them: “Falun Gong practitioners are using their lives to spread the truth”, which is not an exaggeration. Without the persecution, there would be no need to insert the programs. The actions of Falun Gong practitioners who continue to spread the facts more than a decade after the start of the persecution demonstrate that broadcasting TV programs on China’s TV stations is not a crime. Clarifying the truth about Falun Gong will not stop until the persecution is stopped.
Xinhua News Agency’s allegations regarding Mr. Zhong Dingbang are not based on evidence, and the accusation “endangering national security” is also nonsense. Prior to the persecution, there were Falun Gong practitioners throughout every level of society, following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Millions of people cultivating a calm mind had a positive effect on the stability of society. As a result of the persecution however, over 3,500 Falun Gong practitioners are confirmed dead. Practitioners are denied employment, school enrollment, and the right to live peacefully. People, from the industry elite to commoners, are being arrested and murdered, and yet, spreading the facts of such brutal persecution is considered endangering national security?
Every country needs citizens with a good moral foundation. Overseas Falun Gong practitioners clarify the facts because they do not want to see China in such a dangerous situation and its citizens deceived. Despite the danger, these practitioners have allowed Falun Gong TV programs to reach thousands of households and let people know about the quitting the CCP movement.
Broadcasting programs on China’s TV stations is not a crime. It is a peaceful act to bring about justice. Falun Gong practitioners have always used peaceful means to clarify the facts. These peaceful means are not only noteable, but praiseworthy. History will record the importance and grandness of these acts, and the positive changes they brought to China’s future.
