Daughter Seeks Justice and Family

By Qin Rongqian
Qin Rongqian writes an open letter to communist leaders
To Chairman Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, and Vice Chairman Xi Jinping:
My name is Qin Rongqian, and I am 23 years old. I am from Jinshantun District, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province.
I had a happy family before July 20, 1999. My father, mother, sister and I lived together. Now we are separated in life and in death. My father Qin Yueming, a Falun Gong practitioner, was persecuted in prison for nearly 12 years until he allegedly died suddenly in Jiamusi Prison, despite always being very healthy.
Now, my mother and sister are illegally detained and tortured in a labor camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, because they tried to seek justice for my father.
Now I call for justice for my father and seek to rescue my mother and sister. I am alone.
All levels of local government have illegally ignored my appeals. I can only write this open letter to you.
Chairman Hu, Premier Wen, and Vice Chairman Xi, you are all fathers, so I believe you can understand my feelings. I want you to know that in the nearly 13 years since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, we only lived with our father for six months.
He spent all other days illegally detained in labor camps and prisons.
Police and prisoners tortured my father to force him to give up his faith. That could not destroy a Dafa practitioner’s indomitable will and altruism. He had six yuan (US$0.94) per month to cover his needs in prison, yet he donated 40 yuan (US$6.28) for the victims of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan Province.
We were never able to get him released. All the departments we visited made excuses and did not give us a direct reply. We felt helpless. Chairman Hu, Premier Wen, and Vice Chairman Xi, do you know what people are most afraid of? Having nowhere to turn for justice.
My request is simple. I just want to learn the cause of my father’s death, and I want my mother and sister, who are wrongfully imprisoned, to come back to me. I want a home, though it can never be a complete one.
I believe that my persistence will give hope to the hundreds of thousands of Chinese people who are suffering cruel persecution, and it will prevent such tragedies from happening to other families. The inhuman way local government officials have been treating us has made all the Chinese people who know the truth feel disappointed with the communist government.
Our family tragedy has awakened the conscience of more and more Chinese people. In only two weeks, 15,000 people in Heilongjiang supported us. They signed and pressed their thumbprints on my petition, and that gives me some comfort.
While I collected signatures, I met a man who told me he was a guard in Jiamusi Prison. He confirmed that my father was tortured to death there. Then he added his signature and thumbprint to the petition.
I am happy for people who choose justice in the face of tyranny. I am encouraged by the great change in the minds of the Chinese people.
Chairman Hu, Premier Wen, and Vice Chairman Xi, do you realize this? The news that three people were slaughtered in 11 days in Jiamusi Prison not only harms their families, but also harms the image of the government, the Central Politics and Law Commission, and the system of public security. It turns people’s hearts against the government. It certainly is what you as leaders of the nation are most unwilling to see.
Pay attention. Do not let the murderers go unpunished and do not let the tragedy continue to repeat itself.
Chairman Hu, I remember when you visited the United States in 2005, Falun Gong practitioners reminded you, “The time left [to stop the persecution of Falun Gong] is limited.”
I believe that you, Premier Wen, and Vice Chairman Xi will follow divine and human principles and bravely punish evil. Do not miss the opportunity that history gives you. Stop the persecution of Falun Gong and accuse the culprits—Jiang Zemin and his gang.
Finally, I sincerely look forward to justice as soon as possible for other families in similar circumstances.
Sincerely,
Qin Rongqian
