The Chinese regime is allegedly using a Buddhist temple in Sichuan Province as a makeshift detention center for brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners. The regime has been persecuting the spiritual group since 1999. Sansheng Temple is about 30 miles from Chengdu in Pengzhou City.

[Erping Zhang, Falun Gong Spokesman]:
"Over the past 12 years, thousands of makeshift centers have been set up across China for the purposes of forcing Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their faith."

According to the Falun Dafa Information Center, which monitors the human rights situation in China, 14 Falun Gong practitioners have been imprisoned at the temple since June 2010. They have suffered beatings, physical abuse, and mental torture.

[Erping Zhang, Falun Gong Spokesman]:
"There is something very sinister about the Communist Party using a Buddhist place of worship as a venue for forcibly brainwashing people who have dedicated themselves to following a Buddhist School practice."

The Falun Dafa Information Center reported a specific instance of a farmer being held there for four months. Qing Guangrong endured numerous beatings before she was released in July 2011.

So far the Center has documented over 63-thousand cases of Falun Gong practitioners who have been tortured. The Center has also documented over 3,300 deaths due to persecution, but estimates that the actual death toll may be in the tens of thousands. They call the Chinese regime's persecution of Falun Gong "possibly the largest religious persecution in the world today."
