“Free China: The Courage to Believe,” is a documentary film co-produced by New Tang Dynasty Television and directed by Michael Perlman. After winning the top award in its category back in early May at West Hollywood’s Awareness Film Festival, it returned to Los Angeles for another screening.
Film directors and producers, as well as guests from the business and entertainment industries were invited to participate.
The screening was held at the Los Angeles City Club in downtown LA.
Audience members were greatly moved by the remarkable stories of the movie’s two protagonists, both practitioners of the persecuted Falun Gong meditation group, and by accounts of live organ harvesting in China.
[Adonis Romair, Hollywood Actor]:
“Wow. The movie is profound. It’s full of truth, pain, suffering, anguish. These are the feelings I saw in the characters being portrayed. They are feelings I also felt for myself as an individual, and there’s so much evil. So much evil in everything that has to do with this concept of harvesting body parts, people dying. That psychological control of people’s minds, that’s so wrong, that’s so disgusting. It bothers me, it really bothers me.”

Hollywood director Pinchas Perry, whose Chicago 8 will premiere in September this year, believes “Free China” will increase pressure on the US government to take a stand on human rights in China.
[Pinchas Perry, Hollywood Director]:
“This kind of movies, and the awareness [it brings]. Maybe the state department will put more pressure on China to open, to be more democratic.”

Tom Sullivan, Real Estate Services CEO, was impressed by the strength of character displayed by those persecuted in China.
[Tom Sullivan, CEO, Real Estate Services]:
“The Chinese people seem to have an incredible heart to stay with their beliefs under extreme circumstances and torture. That’s very impressive.”
