(Minghui.org) Ms. Yu Guolan, 69, lives in the Community of Dongfeng District Iron Factory. She is a retired manager of the First Plastic Factory. She practiced Falun Gong to improve her health, which greatly benefited her. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of the practice on July 20, 1999, she was arrested three times and detained twice. She is in critical condition after being tortured by the police.
Contrast Before and After Practice
Ms. Yu used to suffer from severe neurosis. Sometimes, she stayed awake the whole night. She had anemia because she could not eat. Almost all of her organs suffered ailments. She was 5’3” but weighed only 90 pounds. She was skinny like a skeleton. Her eyes were dull and she was in state of trance. She went to see many doctors and they failed to cure her. Her doctor could not do anything for her. She also lost hope and accepted her fate. One of her former classmates met her after they had not seen each other for many years. The classmate was surprised, “Three-tenths is like a living being while seven-tenths is like a ghost.”
Soon after Ms. Yu began to practice Falun Gong in 1996, all of her illnesses disappeared. Her weight increased to 130 pounds. She is nearly 70 years old and shows no sign of aging. She does not bend over at the waist or have a hunchback. Her family stored about 400lbs of vegetables for winter in fall. Their home is on the fifth floor of a building. There is no elevator. She lifted most of the vegetables home alone. She can carry a 50lb rice bag to the fifth floor without resting. She is disease-free and full of energy.
Her classmate saw her again two years ago. She was surprised, “I cannot image that you are still alive and you look so well. Tell me, what’s your secret? What panacea did you discover?” Ms. Yu told her that she practiced Falun Gong and it was the Master of Falun Gong who gave her a second life. Furthermore, with one person practicing, the whole family benefits: “My youngest son used to have Hepatitis B. It disappeared after I practiced. He was not able to work before because of his illness. He has been working and making a living.” Her classmate said that someone had told her before that reciting “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance is good” brings blessing and quitting the CCP would ensure one’s survival, but she did not believe it. After she saw the astonishing change in Ms. Yu herself, she believed it and quit the CCP.
After she practiced Falun Gong, Ms. Yu was happy and thought she would live the rest of her life in peace, but then the unexpected happened.
Persecution Destroyed Her Peaceful Life
On July 20, 1999, the CCP regime began to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Tens of thousands of practitioners and their families were harassed. Their peaceful lives were destroyed. Ms. Yu was one of them.
The first sign of trouble came when the director of the Community Iron Factory, Zhao Jinying, repeatedly asked her to turn in Dafa books and write a guarantee statement to not practice Falun Gong. Ms. Yu refused. The director was unhappy, saying, “I am doing it for your own benefit. If the police come, things will be different.” Unfortunately, this turned out to be true.
On April 11, 2001, after 8:00 p.m., four officers showed up at Ms. Yu’s home without any documents or identification. They went straight to her and said, “Are you still practicing? If you say no and turn in your Falun Gong books, nothing will happen to you. Why don’t you answer the question? Are you going to turn in the books or not?” One of the officers shook a handcuff in front of her face, “If you don’t, we will take you away if we find them.” Her husband was so scared he had a heart attack at the scene. They ransacked her home but found nothing. When they left, they threatened, “Old lady, bring the books to us when you make the decision; otherwise, we will come again.”
One morning in the fall of 2005, Ms. Yu stopped by a practitioner’s home on her way to repair her grandson’s shoe. Officer Liu Huafeng was waiting there to arrest visiting practitioners. He arrested her, asked why she had come to visit, and asked if she had come to deliver Falun Gong materials. He searched her, but all he found was a shoe.
Liu called for other officers. They took Ms. Yu and the other practitioner to the Jiadong Police Station. While officers were interrogating the practitioners, Liu and Officer Zheng Qingcheng searched Ms. Yu’s home. They did not find anything that they could use to press charges against them. In the police station, Ms. Yu and the other practitioner refused to write any guarantee statements or sign any documents. They said, “We have not committed any crimes. What guarantee shall we write?” They were finally released in the afternoon.
Imprisoned and Funds Extorted from Her Family
On November 4, 2010, after 10:00 a.m., 68-year-old Ms. Yu walked across the street after she had left a boutique near the Jiadong Police Station. While she was passing a police car, an officer stepped out of the car, extended his leg, and tripped her. Ms. Yu fell on her back and hit her head on the icy ground. She passed out at once.
An eyewitness heard a bang, then saw her laying on the street. Two officers walked over, kicked her, and ordered her to stand up. After they realized that she did was not responding, they dragged her into the police car, took her to the Jianguolu Police Station, and threw her on the cement floor. She began shivering. It was some time before an officer dragged her to a chair. She continued to shiver.
Ms. Yu gradually regained consciousness on the way to a detention center during the night. The doctor at the detention center examined her and said she did not meet the physical requirements for admission. After a long talk between the police and guards, she was admitted to the detention center.
The inmate who slept beside Ms. Yu said that Ms. Yu quivered the whole night.
Ms. Yu’s family was very worried about her. Her husband had had a heart attack. Her son did everything possible to rescue her. He paid others to help and finally took her home four days later. He did not disclose the amount of money he paid because he was afraid that it might irritate his mother. Her grandson said that they spent a lot of money on hosting dinners in addition to paying for meal expenses in the detention center.
Arrested for Carrying a Bag
After 8:00 a.m. on May 27, 2011, Ms. Yu left home and passed the east corner of the building, where Zheng Qingcheng and half a dozen officers from the Jiadong Police Station were waiting for her. They arrested her and took her to the police station.
Zheng asked, “What are you going to do so early in the morning? You are carrying a bag. What do you do?” Ms. Yu refused to answer his questions. Four or five officers went to search her home and seized her Dafa books and materials, a new unused cell phone, and more than 1,000 yuan in cash. They have never provided a list of confiscated items nor returned the seized belongings.
In the afternoon, Zheng lied, saying, “Old lady, your son had someone give us a message that you are sick. We will take you to the hospital for an exam. If you are sick, we will let you go home.” The exam showed she had severe diseases but the officers did not let her go home. Instead, they took her to the detention center. The guards refused to admit her. The officers insisted that the detention center accept her. After several hours of standstill, Dr. Liu from the detention center said, “We will reconsider it if you can show exam results from another hospital.”
The officers took Ms. Yu for a ride and then came back to the detention center. Dr. Liu said, “You are quick.” Ms. Yu, “How can it be so quick? They did not take me to hospital. They just drove around the city and parked in front of the Dongfeng Police Department for half an hour, then brought me back.” The doctor then had a steward handle the case. He talked to a supervisor and finally they had Ms. Yu admitted to the detention center.
The next day, Ms. Yu was taken to a room full of guards. She had not eaten or slept well the day before. She was tired and weak. Her legs were unsteady. She saw a stool in the room and sat on it. A guard yelled and ordered her to stand up. She asked, “What are you going to do?” Another guard said, “Take a picture of you.” She said, “I won’t let you. I did not commit any crime. Why should I let you do that? Doing unjust things is not good for you, either.” A guard said, “Do you have the final say? You say no then it’s no? We have dealt with many people like you. Let’s see if we can take the picture. Drag her up.” The officers jumped on her. Some grabbed her hair. Some pulled her collar. Others hauled her up by her clothes. The others dragged her arms. Her clothes were torn apart, exposing her belly and lower back. She struggled with all her might to avoid having the picture taken. Finally one of the guards said, “Forget it.” They then stopped.
Imagine a 70-year-old lady struggling against a violent gang of young adults. Ms. Yu collapsed. She was unable to stand and fell into a semi-coma. The officers carried her back to the cell. Thereafter, she could not get out of bed. She was in critical condition after her weight fell alarmingly from diarrhea and vomiting. The detention center issued a critical condition notice and urged the Jiadong Police Station to get her out quickly.
The officers from the Jiadong Police Station first took her to the Jiamusi Medical School for an exam, then to the Paper Mill Hospital for treatment. They did not inform her family until the treatment did not work. Within 13 days this healthy woman became critically ill. They left her to her family without giving them any explanation, but they did not forget to extort money from them first.
Ms. Yu’s Family Suffered as a Result of the Persecution
Ms. Yu’s son looked for her after she was arrested. The police threatened him, saying, “Your mother was reported for writing and submitting reports to the Minghui website. The case is now with our superiors. No one can help. She may be sentenced to one year or so.”
Her son came home, sat on the floor, and cried. He said, “Mom, your son works to earn our bread, but I have neither power nor money. I cannot save you. I am not a good son.” He did not have the heart to eat or rest during the days when she was detained. He won’t reveal how much the police extorted from him. He just said that he had to beg others to help. The society is dark. That’s what he had to do.
Ms. Yu’s husband is nearly 80 years old. He suffered heart attacks and nearly died each time the police searched their home.
The CCP and the Jiang regime, as well as their collaborators, are the cause of all this suffering. They do not respect justice or humanity. They are the real criminals.
