Nero and the Staged Tiananmen Self-Immolation

By Ming Li

(Clearwisdom.net) The Roman historian Tacitus wrote that at the Emperor’s private coliseum, some Christians were made to wear animal skins so that they would be attacked and killed by animals, and some were tied to a cross and burnt as torches at night. The Emperor, along with others, sat and watched the Christians die. Who directed this brutal persecution? The Roman Emperor Nero.

On the night of July 18, 64 AD, a great fire broke out in Rome. Tacitus wrote that the fire spread quickly and burned for five days. Popular opinion has it that Nero ordered his soldiers to start the fires that would clear land, so he could confiscate the properties of wealthy families.

Out of 14 districts in the city, three were completely destroyed and seven were severely damaged. Some people claim to have seen Nero standing on a tower, in costume, watching the fire, while playing a lyre and singing one of the ballads he composed.

After the fire, Nero built a magnificent palace for himself. People openly criticized him for setting the fire in order to get the land on which to build the palatial complex. In response to the criticism, Nero blamed Christians for the fire. He later accused them of “hatred towards humanity.” Because most of the Christians were poor people, slaves, or foreigners, it was easy to persecute them. However, the Roman people eventually opposed Nero’s brutal massacre of the Christians. Roman society soon started on a path to decline and collapse.

Two thousand years later, another “big fire” burned, this time in China.

On January 23, 2001, the staged “Tiananmen Self-Immolation” shocked the world. One hour after the incident, the Xinhua news agency (the Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece) announced that five Falun Gong practitioners had set themselves on fire in Tiananmen. Later, they changed the number to seven.

However, the report broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV), also state-run, revealed many questionable issues. For example, the officers patrolling Tiananmen Square don't normally carry fire extinguishers as they walked around, and yet within a very short time, many fire extinguishers were being used to put out the fires. People die in a very short time after dousing themselves with gasoline and igniting themselves.

CCTV does not have TV cameras on Tiananmen Square around the clock. Why were there so many cameras on the scene capturing the “self-immolation”? Not only that, but there were close-ups of the event taken from multiple angles. When the video is played in slow motion, you can see that Liu Chunling, who died at the scene, fell to the ground after a man in an army overcoat struck her head with an unknown blunt object.

On the same day, the Falun Dafa Information Center asked for an independent investigation of the incident.

On February 4, 2001, the Washington Post published “Human Fire Ignites Chinese Mystery - Motive for Public Burning Intensifies Fight Over Falun Gong,” reporting that “None ever saw [Liu Chunling] practice Falun Gong.”

In August, 2001, the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) published “Video: In-depth Analysis of the 'Tiananmen Self-Immolation' Mystery,” exposing the details of the self-immolation fraud.

One United Nations committee made a statement during the 53rd session of the sub-committee on the promotion and protection of human rights on August 14, 2001, pointing out that the incident was directed by the Chinese government and condemning the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners through “state terrorism.”

The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) was established in the U.S. on January 20, 2003. It listed the “Tiananmen Self-immolation” incident as the first case it would investigate.

On March 14, 2003, WOIPFG held a press conference in Washington, DC to release its findings. The report stated that according to speech analysis of statements made by Wang Jindong (one of the alleged self-immolators) conducted by the Speech Lab at National Taiwan University, the voices broadcast in three programs on CCTV were those of different people.

On November 8, 2003, a film that analyzes the incident, called False Fire made by New Tang Dynasty TV, won an Honorable Mention at the 51st Columbus International Film and Video Festival.

By then, the fact that the CCP had staged the “Tiananmen Self-Immolation” to turn public opinion against Falun Gong had been exposed to the world.

Falun Gong follows the principles of Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance. It not only improves people's health, it also raises people’s moral standards. The practice is taught for free and has spread all over the world. Falun Gong principles prohibit killing lives and clearly state that committing suicide is a sin. Since Falun Gong was first introduced in 1992, there has been no similar incidents either in China or any other country.

Ever since the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, it has tried to fabricate excuses for doing so. But Falun Gong is so righteous that no matter what the CCP tried, it couldn’t create a “struggle.” Therefore, Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, and their followers, used some of Nero’s dirty tricks and staged the “Tiananmen Self-Immolation” to stir up public hatred toward Falun Gong and thereby have a reason to intensify the persecution.

It is against people’s nature to persecute a righteous belief. That’s why the once strong Roman Empire started to decline when it began persecuting Christians. Today, the CCP is persecuting Falun Gong. To suppress Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, the CCP promotes Lies-Evil-Violence-Sex in society, which has eroded people’s trust in the CCP and caused a decline in morality.

Now, the wave of over 100 million people quitting the CCP and its affiliated associations is unstoppable. The wise will seize the moment and quit the CCP to ensure their safety!
