(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Huilan was arrested in the Sanhe Economic Development Area, in Huiyang District, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, on June 25, 2011, and taken to the Huiyang District Detention Center. She was transferred to Guangdong Women’s Prison on January 10, 2012, after being illegally sentenced to three-and-a-half years by a Huiyang District Court judge. A couple of months later, her mental and physical health deteriorated. It’s suspected that prison authorities have been injecting her with unknown drugs. Ms. Liu’s husband and daughter visited her on March 22. Her daughter was later arrested on April 27, 2012, and detained for trying to rescue Mr. Liu.
At Guangdong Province Women’s Prison, Ms. Liu refused to give up her belief or cooperate with the prison authorities. As a result, they claimed she had high blood pressure, and injected her with unknown drugs. Later, they added unknown substances to her food, claiming it would help heal her “ailment.” The prison authorities now force her to take unknown drugs every day and have told her family that it’s to lower her blood pressure. When Ms. Liu’s husband and daughter visited her, she had lost her hearing, was in a daze, and had glazed eyes, blurry vision, messy hair, pale and dry skin, and sunken cheeks. Although she was severely underweight, her legs were swollen. She babbled, and there was foam in her mouth. Her family is very worried. Guard Xiao Huiling is directly involved in torturing Ms. Liu.
Ms. Liu’s daughter, Ms. Liu Jing, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. When she first went to visit Ms. Liu in prison, she was told that she couldn’t see her mother because of her belief in Falun Gong. She then quit her job in Wuhan, Hubei, and moved to Guangdong to work odd jobs and be able to visit her mother more frequently. She finally saw her mother on March 22, 2012. To try to rescue her mother and help people understand the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Liu Jing made fliers about the persecution. While she was distributing the fliers in Zhujiangxincheng, in Guangzhou, on April 27, officers from Tangxia Police Station in the Tianhe District arrested her. Her family learned about her arrest two weeks later on May 15. By that time, she had already been transferred and was in Tianhe Detention Center.
The authorities threatened Ms. Liu many times that they would arrest her daughter to try to force her to give up Falun Gong. They also tried to intensify the persecution of Ms. Liu’s daughter because of her belief. Ms. Liu Mulan was under tremendous pressure.
Ms. Liu was a farmer and raised two children by herself. Her husband was addicted to gambling, so the family was very poor. Whenever her husband gambled and lost money, he would viciously beat Ms. Liu. As a result, she tried to commit suicide once, but didn’t succeed. Her neighbor gave her a copy of Zhuan Falun. After she read the book, she became a completely different person. She now follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in her everyday life. Her children both went to college and had excellent grades. Her husband quit gambling and opened up a business with a friend. She also managed to work hard and pay off all of her husband’s debts. Everyone who knew her said that Falun Gong had changed her family.
After the persecution started however, Ms. Liu was arrested. The police went to her husband’s company to harass him, and forced his employees to sign an agreement to oppose Falun Gong. Her husband tried very hard to keep the company running, but failed. He became depressed and started gambling again.
