Amy Yu, a fashion designer and artist in London, has lived without her parents for nearly 20 years now. Due to their adherence to Falun Gong, Amy’s family was targeted by Chinese authorities.
As a result of the CCP’s persecution, her parents have spent a combined 29 years behind bars. And when she was in high school, Amy was even detained in a brainwashing center by police.
Thankfully, she was able to find refuge in the U.K. in 2010. Amy’s parents attempted to visit her in London six years later but Chinese authorities blocked them. After rejecting their passport and visa applications, her parents were told they would never become passport holders because of their faith in Falun Gong.
Recently, her mother Meihong Wang was sentenced to 4 years in Heilongjiang Women’s Prison, notorious for its horrendous and cruel treatment of female Falun Gong practitioners. Her father’s status is still unknown.
