Singapore: Nine-Day Falun Dafa Class a Special Experience for New Practitioners

Dec. 17, 2022 | By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Singapore

(Minghui.org“Attending the Nine-Day Falun Dafa Class was a special experience,” said Mr. Wang. He explained that back in China, he witnessed how his mother’s health improved through practicing Falun Dafa. “She also became a person who cared about others,” he said.

That is why shortly after arriving in Singapore he looked up the local Falun Dafa website hoping to find more information. Two weeks later, he attended the class where he and other practitioners watched video lectures given by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa. “I am so happy to see Falun Dafa can be freely practiced in Singapore (even though it’s suppressed in China),” he said. “In addition, I learned how to do the exercises correctly.”

New practitioners watched videos of the Nine-Day Lectures given by Mr. Li Hongzhi, Falun Dafa’s founder.

Mr. Huang, also from China, said that since childhood, he’s seen and heard lots of defamatory propaganda from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) against Dafa. It was not until he was old enough to work that he could overcome the CCP’s Internet blockade and access overseas information. He learned the truth about the persecution of Falun Dafa. This experience encouraged him to leave China and practice Falun Dafa. “I really appreciate the practitioners who helped me with the exercises. They are very kind and patient,” he said. “I used to have a hot temper, but Falun Dafa taught me to be considerate of others.” He said he planned to join local activities and recommend the practice to others.

Jimmy is a teacher from Malaysia. By watching NTD Television, he learned the truth about the pandemic as well as Falun Dafa. He lived in China for a few years and watched NTD by using software to overcome the Internet blockade. Several weeks after arriving at Singapore, he noticed the Falun Dafa Association in Singapore. Out of curiosity, he looked on the Internet and found information on the Nine-Day Classes. “The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance mean a lot to me,” he said.

Ms. Zhang came with her mother Ms. Huang. When Mr. Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Dafa, visited Singapore in 1996, Ms. Zhang attended the lecture and decided to practice. “Falun Dafa helps me to stay calm and open-minded. I like it very much,” she added.

Because of the CCP’s hate propaganda, Ms. Huang had misunderstandings about Falun Dafa. Through her daughter, Ms. Zhang, she gradually learned the facts and began to practice. By listening to audio lectures and reading Zhuan Falun, the main teachings of Falun Dafa, she learned to apply the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in her daily life.

Located next to the Kallang subway station, the Falun Dafa Association in Singapore hosts Nine-Day Classes free of charge every quarter, to share the mind and body benefits of Falun Dafa with the community. The next session will begin on March 4 (Saturday) and end March 12 (Sunday), 2023. The time will be 7:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. every day. Editor’s Note: Dear readers, do you know that Falun Dafa, originally from China, is currently practiced by people in over 100 countries? But in China, since Jul. 20, 1999, Falun Gong is defamed, slandered and persecuted due to the Chinese Communist Party’s fear of Falun Gong’s rapidly growing popularity. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology.

Singapore: Practitioners Commemorate April 25th Appeal with Group Practice and Signature Collection Event

April 20, 2014 | By a practitioner in Singapore
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore held a group exercise practice and signature collection event on April 15, 2014, in Hong Lim Park, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the April 25 appeal. They explained the significance of the events that took place on April 25, 1999, when ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners peacefully petitioned the government, and exposed the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) ongoing persecution of Falun Gong. Many visitors signed a petition condemning the Party’s atrocity of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.

Passersby learn about Falun Gong and sign the petition condemning the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) atrocity of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.
Among the crimes perpetrated during the 15-year persecution of Falun Gong, the most outrageous has been the regime’s harvesting organs from living practitioners imprisoned in detention centers, prisons, and forced labor camps. Posters exposing the organ harvesting crimes were displayed during the event. The atrocities shocked many visitors, including local residents, tourists, students, and guest workers from India, Austria, England, the United States, China, Serbia, Russia, Cyprus, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mexico, Pakistan, and Poland. Many visitors signed the petition condemning the atrocities.
Many people stopped to watch the event, take photos, and talk with the practitioners. One visitor remarked with admiration, “So many are gathered here for conscience and justice!”
Friederike, who teaches history and English in Austria, was in Singapore with a tour group, and the Falun Gong exercise demonstration caught her attention. She said that she had read reports about Chinese forced labor camps, but this was the first time she had heard about the CCP organ harvesting atrocity.
Tommy, from the Philippines, is a 26-year-old information technology consultant. He had already heard about the persecution of Catholics in China, as he grew up in a Catholic family. Tommy said, “Live organ harvesting is absolutely wrong. It is a crime to kill people for exercising their beliefs. I hope that more people will learn about these crimes and that the United Nations will pay attention to this issue.”
“This is a truly peaceful event,” said Annshul, a software engineer from India, as he took in the practitioners’ gathering. He expressed hope that more people could learn about the persecution, especially those who intend to go to China for organ transplantation surgery.
Background
On April 23 & 24, 1999, police officials in Tianjin, a city near Beijing, assaulted and arrested dozens of Falun Gong practitioners who had gathered outside a magazine office to discuss errors in a recently-published article attacking Falun Gong. As word spread of the arrests and more Falun Gong practitioners inquired with officials, they were told they had to take their appeals to Beijing. The following day, April 25, some 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners spontaneously gathered at the central appeals office in Beijing, as instructed by Tianjin officials. The gathering was peaceful and orderly. Several Falun Gong representatives were called in to meet with Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, and members of his staff. That evening, the concerns of Falun Gong practitioners were met, the arrested practitioners in Tianjin were released, and everyone went home. This event was highly praised by the international media for its peacefulness and quick resolution.
According to several sources within the Chinese government, in the months following the April 25th gathering, a fierce political struggle ensued within the top levels of the CCP brass. Then-CCP head Jiang Zemin called upon the government to “crush” Falun Gong, while other members of the Politburo saw no threat in the practice. CNN’s senior analyst Willy Lam quoted senior officials saying the suppression of Falun Gong became very “personal” for Jiang Zemin. In July, Jiang formally ordered the suppression of Falun Gong. The April 25th gathering was quickly re-characterized—not as the peaceful appeal it was, and one that, in fact, was coordinated by Tianjin and Beijing officials themselves, who told practitioners to go to the Beijing appeals office—but rather as “laying siege” to the central government compound and clear “evidence” as to how Falun Gong is a threat.
The misrepresentation of April 25th as a “siege” of the central government compound politicized Falun Gong, both in China and abroad. Thus, rather than seeing the CCP’s persecution as the violent suppression of a religious minority, a narrative claiming that Falun Gong and the CCP were vying for power began to evolve. Furthermore, some China watchers in the West believed that Falun Gong brought the persecution on themselves by “challenging” the government on April 25th. This narrative has eroded the enthusiasm of many would-be supporters of human and religious rights, and remains the single greatest factor in the blame-the-victim phenomena that surrounds the investigation of and reporting on the persecution of Falun Gong more broadly.
Over the last 15 years of persecution, more than 3,700 practitioners have died as a direct result of persecution, often under torture or horrific conditions in detention. Sadly, the number of death cases is likely much higher, but due to the regime’s information blockade, it is very difficult to get news out of China. The brutal persecution is still ongoing.

Housewife Spreads Awareness of Forced Organ Harvesting

“I do it not for myself; this is volunteer work that
is saving lives.”

The Epoch Times, Singapore Edition

Ms Rena Sim is one of a handful of volunteers in Singapore who travels around the island to collect signatures
from people on the street every day. Carrying a reusable grocery bag containing a small poster and stack
of petitions with signatures from people of all walks of lives, the 47-year-old housewife said, “I do it
not for myself; this is volunteer work that is saving lives.”
Four months ago, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH), an NGO that seeks to end forced organ harvesting in China and to promote ethical standards in medicine, initiated a petition addressed to the UN Human Rights High Commissioner.
The petition called for an immediate end to the forced organ harvesting carried out on detained Falun
Gong practitioners in China by the Chinese authorities. The organs are removed from the practitioners
while they are still alive, killing them. The organs are usually then sold to wealthy buyers, including foreigners
who travel to China for organ transplants.
Since then, the global effort has collected over half a million signatures from 32 countries worldwide,
including Singapore, Malaysia, and eight other countries in Asia. The campaign was launched here in
August with the help of 15 volunteers, who have since collected some 3,000 signatures.
To Rena, the figure is still far from what they hope to eventually achieve, though she added that numbers
do not matter to her as much as the sincerity of the act.
“We don’t want to go for the numbers. We want to do this from our heart.”
“Many people want to know what is going on. They want to know why I am standing here and doing this
because they did not see this in other places,” she said.
Rena recounted the initial stares from mostly middle-aged passersby when she first stood outside MRT
stations holding a poster that read, “Stop Organ Harvesting in China”.
“The aunties and uncles thought I was asking for donations, to help the victims.”
“I chose to do this because a lot of Singaporeans are still unaware of what is going on in China. Imagine if they get organs from there and if these organs are removed by force from innocent people… this is inhuman and unethical. This is a serious sin for them (the Chinese authorities),” she said.
Increasing Global Awareness of Organ Harvesting
There is mounting evidence that many high-ranking Chinese officials are implicated in the highly profitable organ harvesting racket, including the former Party Security Czar, Zhou Yongkang, and the disgraced former Politburo member, Bo Xilai. A rising number of people around the world, including doctors, politicians, human rights lawyers and journalists, are becoming increasingly involved in spreading the awareness of the forced organ harvesting in China.
On June 27, members of both parties in the US Congress jointly initiated House Resolution 281 – a resolution that calls for China to immediately stop forced organ harvesting of Falun Gong and other prisoners of conscience.
The resolution also called for an end of its 14-year-long persecution of Falun Gong; banning entry into the United States of individuals who have participated in the unethical removal of human tissues and organs; and prosecuting such persons who may be in the United States.
Local Support
“Now I think a lot of people know what is happening. Last week when I was doing the petition, I heard so
many voices around me, such as ‘Keep it up!’ ‘I need to support and I need to sign’,” she said.

“On numerous occasions, when I approached our local doctors, many showed their support without hesitation.
I remembered I was standing there… a doctor was looking at me. He told me he knew everything and
signed the petition right away. So you can imagine how fast the news has been spreading around.”
It did not take long for the folks around Rena’s neighbourhood to spontaneously show her their support or lend her a helping hand.
Rena said she was happy to receive much encouragement and support from passing students, many of whom even offered to help raise awareness of the petition through Facebook. Now, she hopes to reach more people using social media herself.
“Even though I’m a housewife and am computer illiterate, I am now learning how to use computers to
access Facebook to interact with all my friends.
“Now, after about 3 to 4 weeks, a lot of people just approached me automatically. They say that they read about it on Facebook.A lot of kind people said they wish to pass this message around so that people will know what is happening,” she said, beaming for the first time.

"Many people are tapping my shoulders and giving me encouragement. That’s something that really impresses me and encourages me to keep going."
“Some people asked, ‘Does it help to put my name (on the petition)?’ I said yes!… This small gesture of yours counts. I hope that everybody will be true to their hearts and help relay the message to stop this unethical act that is happening in China,” she said.
