Olympic Silver Medalist Swimmer Discusses Her Practice of Falun Gong

 September 02, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) In the beginning of the 1980s, the “five golden flowers” of the prestigious Chinese swimming team (Huang Xiaomin, Qian Hong, Zhuang Yong, Yang Wenyi, Lin Li) shook the swimming world. The first bud to bloom was Huang Xiaomin. In 1986, at the age of seventeen, she won the female 100-meter breaststroke gold medal at the Seoul Asian Games. She became the best female breaststroke swimmer in Asia. Afterwards, she captured a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Seoul for China.

Huang Xiaomin retired in 1994, and then went to study abroad in Korea. Since 1998 she has been working as a coach and trainer at Ming Zhi University, in the sports and human kinetics department. Huang Xiaomin has been practicing Falun Gong for many years now. According to her, after retiring from the national swim team, she always had health problems. If it were not for her practice of Falun Gong, she might be lying in a hospital bed now. Since she started practicing Falun Gong five years ago, all her health problems have disappeared.

Not long ago, Huang Xiaomin participated in a protest against Jiang and his organization and their five-year-long persecution of Falun Gong in Korea. She spoke to reporters, “I am very happy to participate in today’s activities. I am in great health because I practice Falun Gong. It allows me to be fully committed to my career. I want to use my personal experience of Falun Gong benefiting my body and mind to tell everyone: Falun Dafa is great!”

A week before the twenty-eighth Olympic Games in Athens, Jiang Zemin was sued in Athens for persecuting Falun Gong.

On August 5th, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners in Athens hosted a press conference, during which they demanded that the Chinese government immediately change the human rights conditions in China and stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Two senior Greek attorneys who represent three Falun Gong practitioners from Australia, Ireland and Greece submitted their case to the Athens courts. The suit named three Chinese officials: former chairman Jiang Zemin, former vice-president Li Lanqing and member of the committee of the Political Bureau Luo Gan, for committing torture and other crimes against humanity in the persecution of Falun Gong.

The Athens court will review the case. Once the prosecution stands, Jiang Zemin and others who are in Athens to watch the games will receive a summons from the Greek courts. Similarly, Jiang Zemin’s minion Chen Zhili was summoned to court in Tanzania.

Practitioners of Falun Gong state, “We don’t know how many Chinese athletes who participate in these Olympic games still don’t know that Falun Gong is good. We don’t know how many of them still believe in the lies Jiang’s organization has fabricated. However, we hope that while participating in these games, they will be able to receive truthful information, and not be deceived by it.”

Editor’s Note: Dear readers, do you know that Falun Dafa, originally from China, is currently practiced by people in over 100 countries? But in China, since Jul. 20, 1999, Falun Gong is defamed, slandered and persecuted due to the Chinese Communist Party’s fear of Falun Gong’s rapidly growing popularity. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology.
