[Minghui.org] Austria: Practitioners Invited to Introduce Falun Dafa to a Secondary School

(Minghui.org) Practitioners were invited to visit a secondary school in Steiermark, Austria on April 24, 2024 and explain the persecution of Falun Dafa by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to students. One of the teachers said that this talk benefited the children greatly and he hoped that more schools could hold similar talks.

Mr. Gölles, a history and social studies teacher at the Mittelschule Strallegg secondary school, invited the Falun Dafa practitioners. About two years ago, Mr. Gölles learned about the persecution of Falun Dafa by the CCP during a truth clarifying event in Graz, and he began inviting practitioners to come to his school to give similar talks. Mr. Gölles wrote in the invitation that he believed the practitioners’ visit will “leave a deep impression in the children and greatly benefit them.”

The students watched the documentary “Letter from Masanjia”.

About a year later, Falun Dafa practitioners were once again invited to visit this secondary school. The practitioners showed the documentary “Letter from Masanjia” to the fourth year students (students in the seventh and eighth grades).

The students attentively listened. Once the practitioners finished speaking, the children had many questions such as how many Falun Dafa practitioners are imprisoned and what motivated practitioners to begin cultivating. At the end of the talk, the class representative expressed their thanks to the Falun Dafa practitioners on behalf of the class.

Mr. Gölles said, “The talk greatly benefited these secondary school students. They’ll be able to view the persecution and prejudice that exists in other countries with a correct perspective.” He said, “I recommend this event and it would be great if the other schools also discussed this topic in their classes.”

[Minghui.org] Austria: Series of Events Held to Call Attention to the Persecution of Falun Dafa

Practitioners also attended Little Festival, an Austrian cultural event, on June 19, 2022. They set up a tent, and decorated it with many paper lotuses. Paper lotuses symbolize practitioners in China remaining pure and bright amidst the dark persecution. In addition, practitioners demonstrated the exercises and distributed fliers. 

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a series of activities in several cities across Austria on June 11-25, 2022. They informed people about Falun Dafa and how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is persecuting this cultivation practice. Many people signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution.

Practitioners attended Wir in Ottakring of Vienna, on June 11, 2022. While they demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises on stage, another practitioner explained what Falun Dafa was about. They also taught locals how to fold paper lotuses, an activity that was enjoyed by adults and children.

Practitioners also attended Little Festival, an Austrian cultural event, on June 19, 2022. They set up a tent, and decorated it with many paper lotuses. Practitioners held Information Day in Eisenstadt on June 24, 2022. Many people stopped to sign the petition and take fliers. A local news reporter came and planned to write a report about the activity.

Practitioners held another Information Day at Graz on June 25, 2022. Many people were seen strolling along the streets of Graz that day. Upon seeing the banner “Sign to Help Stop the CCP’s Forced Live Organ Harvesting”, many people signed the petition.

After talking with a practitioner for a long time, a man praised practitioners for their courage in exposing the CCP’s crimes. Before leaving, he thanked practitioners, and wished them all the best in their effort to expose the atrocities committed by the CCP.

Located at the center of the city, this square is named after the renowned Stephansdom, Vienna’s St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and one of the tallest churches in the world. About two millenniums ago, Christians were suppressed in the Roman Empire over a period of three centuries. They were torn apart by animals, crucified, and burned alive.

Similar things are happening again, in the 21st century. During the past 16 years, Falun Gong practitioners have been severely persecuted in China for their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners who came to the 2015 Falun Dafa Experience-Sharing Fa-Conference in Vienna held a candlelight vigil at the Stephansplatz on the evening of September 18, one day before the conference.

Located at the center of the city, this square is named after the renowned Stephansdom, Vienna’s St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and one of the tallest churches in the world. About two millenniums ago, Christians were suppressed in the Roman Empire over a period of three centuries. They were torn apart by animals, crucified, and burned alive.

Similar things are happening again, in the 21st century. During the past 16 years, Falun Gong practitioners have been severely persecuted in China for their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

According to information received by the Minghui website, more than 3,800 practitioners have lost their lives due to torture while in police custody. Many more have been arrested, detained, imprisoned, tortured, subjected to forced labor, injected with nerve-damaging drugs, and become victims of live organ harvesting.

Michael Hofer and Julia Gegenhuber, two college students who were walking by, stopped to find out what the vigil was about. Upon learning that innocent practitioners were being mistreated for their beliefs, they joined the practitioners in the candlelight vigil.

After leaving his email address, Hofer said he would follow up on this human rights violation, and let more people know about it.

College students Michael Hofer and Julia Gegenhuber joined the candlelight vigil.

A banker who had traveled to many countries, including China, told his wife and daughter, who were visiting Vienna with him, that most Chinese people had been brainwashed by the Communist Party. When practitioner Djan told him about the organ harvesting from living practitioners in China, the banker was surprised by the atrocity. He signed the petition calling for an end to the brutality.

One company CEO said had not been aware of the suppression. He took some materials and said he would tell more people about it.

(Minghui.org) Practitioners from over 30 countries came together for the 2015 European Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference on September 19 in Vienna, Austria. Before the conference, some of the attendees gathered for meditation at the Austrian Parliament Building.

Built between 1874 and 1883, this building is one of the most popular tourist sites in Vienna. Architect Theophil Hansen considered his Greek-inspired design to be a monument in the modern era that reminds us of the sacredness of God and heaven.

Aglow in the morning light, the gentle, flowing motion of the Falun Dafa exercises against the backdrop of the towering structure prompted many passersby to stop and find out more.

“I did 45 minutes of sitting meditation here today even before I realized it,” said a participant, Boiana, from Bulgaria. “It felt great—you can feel the strong energy at a group exercise like this,” she said. Boiana started practicing Falun Dafa a little over a year ago and could only sit in crossed-legged meditation for 40 minutes at first.

Boiana from Bulgaria said there is a strong energy when exercising with a group.

Boiana does one hour of exercise with other practitioners before going to work in the morning. She said the practice made her healthier and improved her relationships with family and friends.“Falun Dafa has been the greatest blessing for me,” she said.

Many tourists stopped for information or to take photos. Two buses of Chinese tourists stopped and many of them looked surprised to see the Falun Dafa event. Given the massive, defamatory propaganda that is a part of the persecution of Falun Dafa in China, it is likely they had believed the practice to have been banned everywhere. Some took materials and said they would seize the opportunity to learn the real story behind the persecution.
