[Minghui.org] Belated News: Heilongjiang Man Released in Critical Condition 14 Years Into His 20-Year Term, Dies in Late 2022 at 77

July 23, 2025 | By a Minghui correspondent in Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org)

Mr. Huang was fired from his job and later lived away from home to avoid being arrested. While in Shandong Province, he worked with three other practitioners and intercepted TV signals to broadcast programs exposing the persecution. He was arrested on January 23, 2003 and sentenced to 20 years on August 15, 2003. He was admitted to the Shandong Province Prison on September 1, 2003. Due to abuse, he was issued critical condition notices three times in four months in 2017 and was eventually released on parole on August 21, 2017.

  • Name: Huang Min
  • Chinese Name: 黄敏
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 77
  • City: Jiamusi
  • Province: Heilongjiang
  • Occupation: Former college lecturer
  • Date of Death: December 24, 2022
  • Date of Most Recent Arrest: January 23, 2003
  • Most Recent Place of Detention: Shandong Province Prison
Mr. Huang Min

Before he died on December 24, 2022, Mr. Huang Min thought he was still in prison and serving a 20-year term for exposing the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong. The Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, resident was released on parole in critical condition in 2017, but faced endless harassment from the authorities in his final years. He was often dazed and his health deteriorated. He died five years later.

Mr. Huang, born in May 1944, took up Falun Gong in May 1995 and soon recovered from his numerous diseases. He was able to teach again as an instructor at the Electronic Engineering Department of Jiamusi University after an eight-year leave. He was repeatedly arrested after the persecution began in July 1999. He was given one year of forced labor in June 2000, when he went to Beijing for the third time to appeal for Falun Gong.

See the related reports for details of Mr. Huang’s benefits from practicing Falun Gong, his repeated incarcerations, and abuse in custody. The rest of this article details what transpired before and after he was paroled.

Three Critical Condition Notices in Four Months

The first critical condition notice was issued on March 26, 2017, when Mr. Huang had a stroke and fell into a coma. His family traveled about 1,000 miles from Heilongjiang Province to the Shandong Province Prison, but their parole request was denied.

The second critical notice was issued on May 26, 2017, after Mr. Huang suddenly lost consciousness and had seizures. His family again traveled a long distance to see him but their parole request was again denied. Prison guard Zheng Jie repeatedly told the family that they would not release Mr. Huang as long as he still had one breath left.

A third critical condition notice was issued on July 27, 2017. By that time Mr. Huang had been hospitalized for days but the prison refused to release him. He told his daughter that he worried that he might die in the hospital as he was only given a small cup of congee (rice porridge) to eat at every meal and no one gave him water when he was thirsty. Those assigned to watch him whipped his face with damp towels.

In the next few days, Mr. Huang’s daughter traveled between Heilongjiang and Shandong three times to process his parole application (as the prison required authorities in Heilongjiang Province to approve certain things).

On August 18, 2017, Mr. Huang’s wife arrived in Jinan, where the prison is located, but was not allowed to see him. At 1 p.m. that day, an ambulance took Mr. Huang to the police hospital (also known as Ankang Hospital). His daughter flew in at noon three days later. She immediately called her mother to meet her at the hospital. Her brother also rushed to Shandong.

Released on Parole and Medical Attention at Two Civil Hospitals in Shandong

To avoid having Mr. Huang die while he was in their custody, a section chief surnamed Li requested the warden release him. The prison finally granted his parole application on August 21, 2017.

Li suggested that the family take Mr. Huang to a civil hospital in Shandong Province first. They agreed and an ambulance took Mr. Huang to the Qilu Hospital. There were no beds available at the intensive care unit (ICU) and Mr. Huang was placed on a simple small bed in the corridor outside the ICU. The doctors gave him high-pressure oxygen, and used a pump to give him low blood pressure drugs. His body was so swollen that the prison guard couldn’t remove his prison uniform but had to use scissors to cut it open. He was also wearing a catheter.

Mr. Huang’s family condemned the prison warden for not releasing him earlier and delaying his care, especially when he had organ failure. A guard surnamed Zhang chimed in and said he was the lead of the team Mr. Huang was held in, and they videotaped him. The family ignored him.

In the corridor, the bed was too small to turn Mr. Huang over. There was no attending physician. His family decided to transfer him to the Qianfoshan Hospital.

Upon admission to the Qianfoshan Hospital, a liver and gallbladder expert surnamed Teng instructed the doctors and nurses to get a surgical kit. He then cut the superficial clavicular vein and made an infusion tube to give Mr. Huang medication, protein, and plasma.

Mr. Huang was given a comprehensive examination that day, August 21, 2017. He was admitted to the ICU the next day and had a thoracentesis with 500 ml of fluid and a large amount of pus was extracted.

Dr. Teng gathered Mr. Huang’s family on August 23, 2017 and said that he was previously asked to examine Mr. Huang at the police hospital. He warned the doctors there that Mr. Huang was in critical condition and even surgery might not help. Dr. Teng asked the family to be mentally prepared.

Dr. Teng performed a three-hour surgery on Mr. Huang in the afternoon of August 24, 2017. He told the family afterwards that Mr. Huang did not have any malignant tumors and he was hopeful about his recovery.

Dr. Teng showed three piles of things removed from Mr. Huang’s body, including the foreskin from his liver after an abscess ruptured, a stone that also contained pus, and three large stones each 1.5 cm in diameter taken from his bile duct.

After staying in the ICU for ten days, Mr. Huang’s condition stabilized and he was discharged.

Unfortunately, Mr. Huang soon developed a fungal infection in his lungs. His condition quickly worsened. Due to the repeated abuse in prison, he was weak and often dazed. Dr. Teng managed to control the infection, but Mr. Huang fell into a coma again. At one point his head kept shaking and didn’t stop.

After spending over 360,000 yuan of their own money, Mr. Huang’s family decided to take him back to their hometown in Heilongjiang Province.

Dr. Teng helped arrange an ambulance which cost the family 12,000 yuan, with a doctor surnamed Cao who graduated from Shandong University and two drivers. Mr. Huang had eight drainage tubes in him during the entire trip.

Continued Hospitalization in Heilongjiang

The group departed Jinan at 1 p.m. on September 4, 2017 and arrived in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang 20 hours later. They went straight to a local hospital.

After a period of treatment, Mr. Huang’s pneumonia symptoms improved, and he was admitted to the gastroenterology department to treat his liver disease. He was then transferred to the general surgery department, and the eight drainage tubes were removed. He was next transferred to a rehabilitation hospital and discharged from there on November 26, 2017. By then the family had exhausted their savings.

Harassment Before Passing

Before Mr. Huang’s condition improved, the Jiamusi police and judicial officials came knocking on the door. They said they were shocked that the Shandong Province Prison released him when he did not sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. They accused him of being a ticking bomb for them as they needed to keep an eye on him because he practices Falun Gong. They harassed him and photographed him.

No friend or relative dared to visit Mr. Huang. His health kept worsening and he died on December 24, 2022. He was in a dazed state before he died, and thought he was still in prison.

Editor’s Note: Dear readers, do you know that Falun Dafa, originally from China, is currently practiced by people in over 100 countries? But in China, since Jul. 20, 1999, Falun Gong is defamed, slandered and persecuted due to the Chinese Communist Party’s fear of Falun Gong’s rapidly growing popularity. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology.

[Minghui.org] Reported in July 2025: Fourteen Falun Gong Practitioners Die as a Result of Persecution

 Aug. 8, 2025 | By a Minghui correspondent

(Minghui.org) The deaths of 14 more Falun Gong practitioners as a result of the persecution of their faith were confirmed in July 2025.

One death each took place in 2013 and 2022; four deaths occurred in 2024; and eight more in 2025. Due to the Chinese Communist Party’s strict information censorship, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners cannot always be reported on time, nor is all the information readily available.

The 14 practitioners, ten of them women, hailed from eight regions. Tianjin, a centrally controlled municipality, reported three deaths. Four provinces (Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, and Shandong) each registered two cases. The remaining three regions (Hebei, Hunan, and Shanghai) each had one case.

The youngest practitioner was a 38-year-old woman in Shandong, who died nine months after she was drugged at two psychiatric hospitals. The oldest practitioner was an 84-year-old woman in Tianjin, who died in 2024 while living in displacement to hide from the police; her health quickly deteriorated upon hearing about the death of her daughter months earlier due to the harassment of their shared faith.

Two practitioners passed away in custody, including a woman who died less than two months after her latest arrest and another man who was serving a 7.5-year term in prison. Most of the other practitioners passed away after serving prison terms and suffering torture and/or drug administration.

Below are select death cases.

Deaths in Custody

1) 59-Year-Old Woman Dies in Custody, Less Than Two Months After Being Arrested for Practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Wang Shuzhi, of Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, died at the Jixi City Detention Center on July 19, 2025, less than two months after her latest arrest. She was 59.

Ms. Wang’s death is a result of the intensified persecution of local Falun Gong practitioners by the Jixi City government, Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and 610 Office since early 2025. They selected Hengshan District as a pilot location and instructed law enforcement to closely monitor practitioners living in the district starting in April 2025. The police also posted rewards for the locals to report on the practitioners. More than ten practitioners were harassed and had their Falun Gong books confiscated. Three practitioners were detained and fined.

Ms. Wang was arrested on May 22, 2025, and taken to the Jixi City Detention Center, which initially refused to admit her due to her poor health. The police held her at an unknown location and successfully had the detention center admit her a week later.

Ms. Wang held a hunger strike to protest the arbitrary detention and was force-fed. She became seriously ill and was hospitalized on July 13, 2025. As soon as she recovered a little, she was brought back to the detention center on July 17, only to die there at 3 a.m. on July 19.

2) 71-Year-Old Man Dies in Prison While Serving 7.5 Years

Mr. Zhao Jiyuan, of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, passed away in Jinzhou City Prison on July 4, 2025, while serving a 7.5-year term. He was 71.

Mr. Zhao, a former employee of the Shenyang City Fourth Construction Company, was sentenced to 7.5 years around October 2019. After he was admitted to the Jinzhou City Prison, the guards denied his family visitation because he refused to renounce Falun Gong. He developed many physical conditions due to the abuses and fell into a critical condition around December 2022. He had two heart attacks in early 2025 and was on the verge of death. He died in prison on July 4, 2025.

When examining Mr. Zhao’s body, his family was heartbroken to see how emaciated he was. They also noticed scars on his ankle from wearing shackles and several bruises on his thigh; one of his nostrils was bigger than the other, likely due to the insertion of a feeding tube. The family didn’t see any other visible injuries and agreed to cremate his body.

Deaths Shortly After Being Released from Custody

1) Imprisoned Shanghai Woman Not Released Until Cancer Metastasized, Dies One Month Later

Ms. Wang Quandi, of Shanghai, was arrested on December 24, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She was sentenced to 4.5 years on an unknown date. When the guards at the Shanghai Women’s Prison abused her, she went on a hunger strike in protest.

Ms. Wang was later diagnosed with cancer but was never treated. After her cancer spread to her liver, the prison authorities finally released her on parole around April 2025, two months before the end of her term. She died a month later in May 2025. She was 77.

This was not the first time that Ms. Wang had been incarcerated for her faith. She was imprisoned twice before for practicing Falun Gong.

2) Mentally Healthy Woman Drugged at Two Psychiatric Hospitals, Dies Nine Months Later at 38

Over the course of two days, Ms. Liu Binghuan, a mentally healthy woman, was held in two different psychiatric hospitals, where she was injected with sedatives and unknown drugs. After she was released, her health steadily declined, her memory was hazy from time to time, and she eventually lost her ability to take care of herself. She died in the early hours of July 28, 2025. The 38-year-old woman is survived by her newlywed husband.

Ms. Liu, a native of Jinan City, Shandong Province, faced repeated persecution for her faith over the years. She served one year of forced labor between 2008 and 2009.

Ms. Liu was predeceased by her mother, Ms. Li Sufang, who also practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Li was sentenced to five years in 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She developed high blood pressure due to the mental pressure and physical torture, and passed away in late 2019.

3) Heilongjiang Man Released in Critical Condition 14 Years Into His 20-Year Term, Dies in Late 2022 at 77

He was often dazed, and his health deteriorated. He died five years later.

4) 66-Year-Old Hebei Man Dies 20 Months After Being Released on Parole in Critical Condition

While serving a seven-year term at the Jidong Prison, Mr. Tian Shisheng, a Tangshan City, Hebei Province, resident, was abused to the point of becoming seriously ill. He had pus and blood in his stool. He requested a medical examination, but was denied. It wasn’t until March 2023 that the prison authorities got approval from higher-ups to take him to an outside hospital for a checkup.

After he was taken back to the prison, Mr. Tian was transferred to the team for the infirm. He was never given the exam results at the hospital.

On November 6, 2023, the prison authorities suddenly notified Mr. Tian’s family to pick him up. They just said he was released on parole and still refused to reveal his exam results.

The local police kept harassing Mr. Tian at home and ordered him to report to the local judicial bureau regularly. They also warned him to be on standby to be interrogated. He struggled to recover and died on July 18, 2025. He was 66.

Death After Latest Harassment

1) Forced Into Displacement to Hide from the Police, Jilin Woman Develops High Fever and Dies

To avoid police harassment for her faith in Falun Gong, Ms. Ji Weirong went into hiding and stayed in an empty house without any heat or other essential supplies. She developed a persistent high fever and passed away seven days later on December 27, 2024. She was 60.

Ms. Ji, a native of Baishan City, Jilin Province, moved to Linyi City, Shandong Province, a few years ago. She later moved back to Fusong County and stayed with her daughter. Fusong is under the jurisdiction of Baishan.

Ms. Ji was arrested in late September 2021 for distributing Falun Gong materials. She stood trial at the Jingyu County Court on December 30, 2021, and was sentenced to ten months with a 2,000-yuan fine.

The court initially told Ms. Ji’s family that they would let her finish serving time at the Baishan City Detention Center, only to take her to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison right after she was convicted. It was only when the prison called her family and asked them to make cash deposits for her that they learned about her secret prison admission.

After Ms. Ji was released, the local police harassed her on a regular basis. She then moved to the municipal area of Baishan.

In mid-December 2024, four officers from Linyi came to harass Ms. Ji. When they didn’t find her, they harassed her sons-in-law instead and stayed at the in-laws’ place for a day. To avoid implicating her family members, Ms. Ji went into hiding and stayed in an empty house. Due to the cold weather and lack of heat, she fell sick. When she returned to her daughter’s home after the Linyi police left, she soon developed a fever and died seven days later on December 27, 2024.

Ms. Ji’s daughter later told a local practitioner that she was very scared when her mother was harassed, and she also felt guilty and depressed about her death.

2) Incapacitated After Eight Years of Torture in Prison, Jilin Woman Dies One Month Following Latest Harassment

Ms. Du Hongfang, of Jilin City, Jilin Province, became incapacitated after serving an eight-year prison term between 2008 and 2016. She struggled to recover due to ongoing police harassment. Her condition deteriorated quickly after the latest harassment in June 2025, and she died a month later on July 23, 2025.

Ms. Du was brutally tortured at the Jilin Province Women’s Prison after being sentenced to eight years in prison in 2008. By the time she was released on July 3, 2016, she had no feeling in her entire body, and she suffered incontinence and had to wear diapers. She could not speak and drooled constantly. She was so weak that she shivered even during the hottest days of summer, under the cover of a heavy quilt. She needed to be fed every meal, which took a long time to finish.

The authorities also suspended her and her husband’s pension. Additionally, the couple had more than 100,000 yuan confiscated from their home during the arrest in 2007, which further worsened their financial predicament.

The police and street committee have harassed the couple many times since May 2020. They had no other choice but to live away from home. The police harassed Ms. Du’s sister instead.

In June 2025, the street committee led the secretary of the Changyi District Political and Legal Affairs Committee to break into Ms. Du’s rental apartment (also in Jilin City). They attempted to make her and her husband renounce Falun Gong. The couple refused to comply, but the harassment caused Ms. Du’s condition to suddenly deteriorate. She could no longer eat or drink. Days later, she fell into critical condition and was rushed to the hospital.

After a few days of treatment, Ms. Du was discharged because her condition was deemed incurable. She relied on tube feeding in her final days and died on July 23, 2025.

Deaths After Long-Term Persecution

1) Once Drugged in Labor Camp, Shandong Woman Dies at 69 Nearly Two Decades Later

Ms. Pang Xinfang, of Changle County, Shandong Province, died on June 12, 2025, after suffering years of persecution for her faith in Falun Gong. She was 69.

Ms. Pang was arrested on September 12, 2006, and given two years of forced labor. She held firm to her faith and was brutally tortured. The labor camp guards once injected her with unknown drugs, causing her veins to collapse. She became incapacitated in 2007 and needed help with eating and using the restroom.

In 2015, Ms. Pang filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, which resulted in irreparable damage to her and numerous other Falun Gong practitioners. The local authorities kept harassing her after finding out about her complaint. She lived away from home to avoid being arrested.

For a period of time since September 2017, the police and 610 Office agents went to Ms. Pang’s home every day to harass her family. She was still doing odd jobs out of town at the time.

The relentless persecution took a toll on Ms. Pang’s health. She fell ill and relied on her family to take care of her daily needs. She died on June 12, 2025.

2) 65-Year-Old Woman Dies After Seven Years in Prison and Subsequent Harassment

Ms. Fan Chuanxiu, of Zixing City, Hunan Province, passed away on June 5, 2025, after enduring decades of persecution for practicing Falun Gong. She was 65.

Ms. Fan went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice her faith in 1999, only to be arrested and sentenced to seven years. While serving time at the Hunan Province Women’s Prison, she was forced to attend brainwashing sessions and sit on a small stool, motionless, every day for long hours. Her buttocks festered, and the pain was excruciating.

At one point, eight inmates surrounded Ms. Fan and put photos of Falun Gong’s founder under her buttocks and feet and exclaimed, “This is the country’s penal institution. You have to obey the orders here!”

As Ms. Fan refused to budge, the persecution escalated. She wasn’t only forced to watch the propaganda videos, but also ordered to hand copy articles slandering Falun Gong. When she refused to comply, the inmates placed photos of Falun Gong’s founder all over her body. They then forced her to stand in the restroom, but without allowing her to use it. She was forced to relieve herself in her pants. Unable to tolerate the smell, the inmates rinsed her with cold water before allowing her to go to bed after midnight. When she slept, they placed three photos of Falun Gong’s founder under her body.

When Ms. Fan urged the inmates not to persecute her, they refused to listen and forced her to stand while holding her arms up. After standing in that position for 12 days, she could no longer keep her balance and was on the verge of collapse.

After Ms. Fan was released, the local police harassed her on a regular basis and forbade her from practicing Falun Gong again. Her health declined over the years, and she died on June 5, 2025.

[Minghui.org] The Persecution Mr. Zhao Guangxi Suffered Before His Death in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province

February 26, 2007

Around May 2001, Mr. Zhao was tortured so severely that he showed symptoms of pulmonary emphysema, and other illnesses. He was unable to breathe normally, and his entire body was swollen. His feet were so swollen that he couldn’t even wear shoes. His body was covered in scabies. However, the labor camp still did not release him, and he was locked up alone.

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 29, 2007, practitioner Mr. Zhao Guangxi passed away as a victim of the Chinese Communist Party’s vicious persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Mr. Zhao lived in Fuguo Village, Tuanjie Township, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. He was a good person who believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He was only 42 years old when he died.

Mr. Zhao’s wife Wang Guihua is also a practitioner. She was imprisoned in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin when her husband died. They did not even see each other before he passed away. They have a young son who was left alone at home.

Mr. Zhao and his wife started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. They disciplined themselves according to the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and cultivated away their bad habits. Their morality improved.

After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Mr. Zhao was illegally arrested by Tuanjie Township government officials, and imprisoned at Shuangcheng Detention Center. When he was there, he was brutally beaten by the inmates. Over two months later, he was released after being extorted some money.

In December 2000, Mr. Zhao and his wife went to Beijing to appeal together. They were both imprisoned in the Shuangcheng No. 2 Detention Center. Later, they were moved to No. 1 Detention Center. After a few days there, Mr. Zhao and a dozen other practitioners were secretly transferred to Pingfang Detention Center in Harbin. The prison guards ordered the criminal inmates to brutally beat Mr. Zhao during his 15 days there.

It was a cold winter, and the inmates stripped off his clothes, pushed his head under the water faucet, and ran cold water on his head. They kept pouring cold water over his head for a long period of time. He was so cold that he started to shake and his head felt numb. The big bed in the detention center was two feet high. The inmates pushed him to the ground, put his chin onto the edge of the bed, choked his throat on the edge of the wood plank, pulled his calves up high with his knees touching the ground, and pulled his hands to his back, keeping his body straight. Consequently, the weight of his body was on his throat, and he could hardly breathe. It was extremely painful. In addition, the inmates used hard plastic shoe soles to fiercely hit him on the back of his neck, and then pulled his head up and back to hit his throat as well. As a result, his throat was swollen and abscessed, and he vomited blood. He could not swallow any food. When he drank water, it was choked out from his nostrils.

The inmates used another kind of torture, called “sailing,” or “pushing, breaking, and digging,” where four or five inmates would push Mr. Zhao to the ground. One would sit on Mr. Zhao’s back, two would pull his legs up high, and two others would pull his arms up to his back, and then push them towards his head while drawing circles. This torture would directly injure his internal organs or even cause disability.

The inmates also put the handle of a toothbrush in between Mr. Zhao’s two fingers, and then they held tightly his five fingers and twist the handle of the toothbrush. Mr. Zhao’s fingers were broken and bleeding, and he felt great pain. In addition to these forms of torture, he was often beaten and kicked. In his cell, there were four practitioners, but over 20 criminal inmates. This was what Mr. Zhao suffered in the fifteen days when he was detained at the Detention Center in Harbin, a few days before the New Year of 2000. Later, the Pingfang Detention Center was rewarded with the honor of “A cultured and civilized work unit” by the vicious Party.

One day before the Chinese New Year, practitioners were transferred to Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin. To protest the long-term persecution, and threats to his life, Mr. Zhao started a hunger strike to demand his release, free of any conditions. However, he was force-fed by the prison guards who inserted finger-sized tubes inside his stomach through his nostrils. He was force-fed once or twice a day.

Only in July 2001, when his illnesses worsened, was he finally sent to the hospital. His pulmonary tuberculosis had reached a late stage, and couldn’t be cured. The prison guards thought that he would die very soon, and decided to release him.

Mr. Zhao and his wife were detained in labor camps at the same time. Ms. Wang was imprisoned at Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. At the time, their son was only 11 years old. He was left home by himself so his aunt took him home. Afterwards, his aunt’s husband went to the township government to explain the situation of the child. When the labor camp found out that Mr. Zhao was in critical condition and was about to die, they asked someone to take him home. Ms. Wang was then released on July 6, 2001. She went home a few days before Mr. Zhao so that she could bring her husband home.

Before Mr. Zhao returned, the former military assistant of Tuanjie Township, Liu Hulin, and a person from the local police station went to Fuguo Village and asked Mr. Zhao’s family members if he had had pulmonary tuberculosis before. His family said, “No, he had no illnesses at all.” After that, the officers told his family, “They’ve found that Mr. Zhao has pulmonary tuberculosis now. He doesn’t have many days to live. Take him home and put him somewhere so that he won’t spread it to other people.”

When his family members went to get him, they could hardly recognize him. A strong and healthy man had been tortured to this degree within only 7 months. His family members were very depressed, and they realized that the labor camp did not want to take responsibility for his death, and so they threw him out to his family.

On the day after Mr. Zhao’s release, the labor camp gathered all the detainees, both practitioners and criminals. The labor camp chief Shi Changjing, who was in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong, said in front of hundreds of people that Mr. Zhao could live no longer than 2 or 3 months. No medicine could cure him. Shi sounded very sure of what he said.

Mr. Zhao’s body and hands were all swollen when he went home. His head seemed to be much bigger than before and he had a hard time breathing. He could not get onto the bed because of his swollen body and had to ask others to carry him onto the bed. Ms. Wang spent many hours every day reading Zhuan Falun to him. After consistently practicing the exercises, and studying the Fa, Mr. Zhao started to heal. Back then, many practitioners went to see him. In a few months, he finally recovered, and the scabies also gradually disappeared within two years.

With his wife’s help, Mr. Zhao completely recovered without any medicine, something the labor camp could never expect.

Mr. Zhao gradually recovered. In 2005, he looked like any other normal person. However, in January 2005, Ms. Wang was arrested again after telling people that it was beneficial for one to practice Falun Gong and that the Tiananmen “Self-immolation” was staged. She was reported by someone from Shuangshan Village in Xingshan Township. She was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and detained in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp.

Mr. Zhao was devastated to learn that his wife was suffering from vicious persecution. He knew how practitioners were treated in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. One person who was released from Wanjia told Mr. Zhao that his wife suffered from brutal torture there.

Under long-term mental pressure, at the end of 2005, Mr. Zhao’ physical condition deteriorated. In March 2006, after the organ harvesting atrocity was exposed to the world, he became extremely nervous. He was afraid that his wife would be transferred. His mental pressure was extreme and he started to have symptoms of illness.

Mr. Zhao went to Ms. Wang Guihua’s parents’ to get her photos to look at. He wished her to come home safe and sound. Due to overwhelming mental pressure, the pulmonary tuberculosis that he had sustained because of the torture in the labor camp recurred. He started to have pounding in his chest, and some other symptoms. In June 2006, he could move with difficulty, but by July and August, he had lost much of his mobility and became dependent on help.

During the harvest time in the fall, he was unable to work, and more than 60 practitioners came to help him. Along with five or six of his relatives, they harvested the soybeans and corn. In the history of Fuguo Village, no family in difficulty had ever got this much help in the fall harvest season.

Mr. Zhao’s family members took him to the hospital but his condition did not improve. Almost their entire savings were used to treat his illnesses. The worsening condition made his mind unclear, and he started to mumble things that did not make sense.

On January 29, 2007, Mr. Zhao passed away. He was only 42 years old. His wife was still imprisoned in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. He did not even see her before he died. Their young son was left home alone.

A happy family was thus broken apart. This is one of the many vicious crimes committed by Jiang’s evil regime.
