(Minghui.org)The Jiazhou Prison, located in Leshan City in Sichuan Province, is one of the prisons that focuses on persecuting male Falun Gong practitioners in the area. Previously a force labor farm, it merged with Leshan Shawan Prison to become today’s Jiazhou Prison, with a sign hanging at the entrance which reads, “Chenma Group Co. Ltd.”
The prison currently holds nearly 4,000 people, of which more than 200 are Falun Gong practitioners. At the prison, practitioners are subjected to several torture methods, including physical torture, brainwashing, and forced labor, which put many practitioners in critical condition.
Below are some of the torture methods that I had experienced or seen when detained at this prison.
Facing the Wall and Doing Squats
Practitioners who have just entered the prison are made to stand facing the wall for hours with the nose, knees, and toes touching the wall. Afterward, the cell leader strips the practitioner and searches through his personal belongings before instructing the practitioner to raise both arms and do squats.
Once they had shaved off the practitioner’s hair and clipped his nails, he would be forced to site face the wall for hours until dinnertime.
Memorizing Prison Rules and Restricting Meal Times
The guards also force the inmates, including Falun Gong practitioners, to memorize the prison rules by the sixth day after entering the prison. Those who cannot memorize the rules are punished. Moreover, the guards punish those who do not sing the Chinese Communist Party’s songs or write guarantee statements.
Another punishment includes starving the practitioners by limiting their eating time to around 15 seconds. Once the time is up, the practitioner would be forced to stand facing the wall. This form of punishment could last for a long time. The guards also force practitioners to watch videos that slander Falun Dafa.
Exposure to Sun in the Summer and Freezing Weather in the Winter
Practitioners can be forced to stay under the sun for the whole day during summer. In the morning, practitioners would be forced to stand facing the sun; in the afternoon, they would be made to sit on the ground with their backs facing the sun.

As a result of the scorching sun, some practitioners fainted and were forcibly awakened with a herbal liquid used in traditional Chinese medicine for heatstroke.
During the winter, practitioners are made to sit facing the wall from morning to night while wearing thin clothes, sometimes causing frostbite on the hands and feet. The punishment stops if the practitioner agrees to sign the guarantee statements using his thumbprint. However, he will not be allowed to eat or wear warm clothes if he refuses.
Tear Gas and Pepper Spray
Tear gas and pepper spray is another method used to punish practitioners. The practitioner will first be forced to sit cross-legged before a restraining cloth is tied around his legs. Next, his hands will be tied behind his back and his mouth will be stuffed with a rubber ball. Afterward, a helmet is put over his head before tear gas and pepper spray are administered and the helmet cover is then closed.
This torture causes great harm to the eyes; victims will have blurred vision and bloodshot, swollen eyes.
Electric Shock, Sleep Deprivation, Beatings, and the Use of Loud Sounds
The guards would shock practitioners with electric batons on sensitive parts of the body such as on the chest, neck, ears, genitals, and toes until the skin becomes charred and the practitioners agree to “transform.”

Practitioners are also deprived of sleep, subjected to beatings, made to sit on tiger benches, and forced to listen to loud sounds.

Forced Labor, Blood Drawn, and Psychological Tests
The practitioners and the inmates are forced to do manual labor for more than ten hours a day. This labor involves assembling phones, computers, and television parts.
For practitioners specifically, the guards also forcibly took blood samples, DNA tests, and personal information, including information on their relatives. In addition, three months before the practitioner’s term is up, he will be forced to do a psychological test to determine if he has been transformed successfully by the prison. If he fails, the prison will inform the judicial department to monitor the practitioner after his release and also withhold his pension.

(Clearwisdom.net)Ms. Ma Zhongbo is 38 years old, but she looks a lot younger than her actual age. She is kind and lively and always happy to help others. She is not wealthy in terms of material things, but miracles have happened to her again and again. These miracles are told repeatedly among the locals and those in her hometown. People have said that if she did not practice Falun Gong, she would have died years ago. After the persecution of Falun Gong started, Ms. Ma’s father, after hearing that his daughter would go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, said, “Even if no one else goes, you should go, because Falun Dafa Gave you your life.”
1. Getting a terminal disease and wanting to commit suicide
Ma Zhongbo used to be very ill, and her left leg always hurt. In 1998, she was diagnosed with a protruding lumbar disc and vascular necrosis. After that she used crutches. She took medicine for half a year, but the disease just got worse. At the end of the year, both of her legs hurt, and she could not walk, even with crutches.
In February 1999, Ms. Ma was introduced to Dr. Zhang Lianxi, a specialist at the Northern Institute of Femur Necrosis in Harbin. Since she could not walk, her elder sister carried her upstairs. Because she was in so much pain, she had to crawl. The doctor said she was in Phase II of vascular necrosis and to wait another eight months before the next X-ray exam.
This was like a death sentence for Ma Zhongbo. Eight months of medicine would cost about 10,000 yuan. Where could she get that much money? She wept all the time. Her family asked around, and everyone told them that this was a terminal condition. Even the ineffective treatment that was available would cost more than 100,000 yuan. Ms. Ma was desperate. To treat her illness, her family had already borrowed lots of money and sold their house. She sent her six-year-old daughter to her parents’ home. She planned to commit suicide after celebrating the Chinese New Years with her parents and daughter in her parents’ home.
2. Practicing Dafa and Regaining Health
After she returned to her parents’ home, her mother took care of her. Ma Zhongbo had more than ten diseases, including tuberculous pleurisy, cholecystitis, myocarditis, and periarthritis. They became more severe because of her poor circulation. She could not sleep day or night because of the pain. Every night she wept under her quilt. She wanted to die but she could not leave her young daughter alone.
When Ms. Ma was in despair, her 80-year-old grandmother, guided by her cousin, came to see her, and asked her to come to her home to practice Falun Gong. At that time she did not believe that Falun Gong could cure her diseases. She just thought that, since she grew up with her grandmother, it would be good to live with her for awhile before she died.
It was January 21 according to the lunar calendar. Her grandmother brought out a copy of Zhuan Falun and asked her to read it. Once she opened the book, she was immediately overwhelmed. This was a book from heaven! Ma Zhongbo spent two and a half days to finish the book. After that, every night, she asked her cousin to use the double wheeled cart to take her to the practice site to learn the exercises.
She visited the practice site for three nights. On the morning of the fifth day, Ma Zhongbo felt that she was not ill any more. She asked someone to bring her shoes and stepped on the ground, and she was immediately able to walk. She was so excited that she shouted, “My legs don’t hurt anymore! I can walk!” She shouted and laughed, and everyone around her was astounded.
3. Doctors Ask Her to “Tell the Truth”
On July 20, 1999, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin launched the persecution of Falun Gong. Suddenly, lies about Falun Gong were spread all over the world and deceived many people.
In April 2000, Ms. Ma Zhongbo went to the Northern Institute of Necrosis.
The doctor checked her record and saw that she had only been given one dose of medicine. He said, “Your recovery is not the result of medicine. Tell me, what did you do?” She said, “I practiced Falun Gong and I was cured.” The doctor said, “You say such a miracle happened to you, but the TV says Falun Gong cannot cure diseases. Why don’t you really tell the truth?” Ma Zhongbo was embarrassed. She blushed and lowered her head.
After she returned home, she visited the appeals office in the Acheng District with the results of her CT scans and the diagnosis. At the office, she asked, “Why did the government lie and tell people that Falun Gong cannot cure diseases?” She told the staff about her miraculous recovery.

After she told her story, they took her to the 610 Office, then to the police department. Faced with the facts of her case, people from the 610 Office and the police department had nothing to say. They just warned her not to appeal again.
Ms. Ma decided to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After her father heard that she would go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, he said, “Even if no one else goes, you should go. Your life has been given to you by Falun Dafa. Even if you die in Beijing, it would be better than if you had died from paralysis earlier.”
4. Persecuted for Appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing
In June 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result, she was taken back by the Ashia County Police Station and detained in the No. 2 Detention Station in the Acheng District.
While she was detained, she held a hunger strike and asked for her immediate release since she was not guilty. The guards found doctors from the Acheng District Hospital to force feed her. The doctor tried to insert a feeding tube into her nose but was not successful after several attempts. The tube always came out of her mouth. Once the feeding tube was inserted seven times. Every insertion of the feeding tube caused tears. It was indeed painful. The guards added salt and alcohol to the food. The purpose of salt was to make Ms. Ma thirsty. The purpose of the alcohol was to “dissolve her gong (energy).” During the last feeding, the doctor administered food with the alcohol. Once the tube was pulled out, the food all came back up and sprayed all over the doctor. They were afraid that things could go wrong and did not want to take responsibility, so they left in a hurry.
Ms. Ma was not released until after more than two months of detention. The police extorted 3,500 yuan from her family.
5. Torture Put Her Life in Danger
In October 2000, Ms. Ma went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong. In the Zhongnanhai Security Department, the policemen used electric batons to beat her. She did not give in. The Ashia County Police Station took her back again and detained her in the No. 1 Detention Station in the Acheng District. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor and was taken to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin.
In June 2001, the labor camp tried to force practitioners to sign statements to give up cultivation. Four male guards and one female guard dragged Ms. Ma by her hair along the ground, kicking and beating her. Her back and both feet were injured, and her her heel was bleeding. She was detained in the male group for nine days. She was forced to squat for one day and two nights. Her right foot became so purulent and swollen that it was bigger than her shoe. The guards had to let her wear the shoes of a male guard. She could not squat down anymore, so the guards took both of her arms and hung her up on the upper level of a bunk bed. They did not let her down until she passed out because of the pain. After she regained consciousness, they continued to force her to squat. The guards also forced her to sit on a hard stool for several days and nights. Her skin festered and blood stuck to her pants. The guards did not allow her to wash herself nor did they allow her to sleep.
The same night, the labor camp notified the Acheng District 610 Office and the police department to take her back. On the second day, Ma Zhongbo was picked up by her family and she returned home.
6. Practicing Falun Gong for 20 days, a Dying Woman Regained Her Health
At that time Ms. Ma was extremely thin and weak. She was dying.
After she got home, the villagers all came to see her. No one thought that she would make it. A female neighbor told her, “Didn’t you recover from femur necrosis by practicing Falun Gong? If you are so capable, you can do the exercises and recover again. Then our whole village will believe in Falun Gong.”
A local female practitioner came to see her. After finding out about the situation, she took Ms. Ma to her own home.
After finishing the four sets of exercise, she felt relieved and gained strength. Her swollen breast also suddenly looked normal. The husband of the female practitioner witnessed the miraculous changes. He was very surprised and said, “If I did not witness this, I would never believe it, no matter who told me about it.”
After studying the Fa and doing the exercise for nearly three weeks in the home of the practitioner, Ms. Ma completely recovered. On the day that she returned home, her father-in-law was celebrating his 60th birthday, and all their friends and family were there. They were very surprised to see Ma Zhongbo so healthy again. The female neighbor said with a thumbs up, “Falun Gong is indeed good. Our whole village believes it now.”
7. Falun Gong Saved Her Life Again.
At the end of the year, the Acheng 610 Office and the Acheng Police Department arrested Ms. Ma again.
She was detained in the No. 1 Detention Station in the Acheng District again. Because of the poor living conditions, the scabies she got during the previous detention came back, and her breast started to fester and bleed again. Her life was in danger again. The director of the detention station was afraid that she would die there, so she was released on medical parole.
After she returned home, she continued to study the Fa and do the exercise. Within several days, she completely recovered.
8. Amazing Facts
In March 2007, 36-year-old Ms. Ma was pregnant again. She easily gave birth to a healthy girl. The doctors were surprised that she could have a natural delivery at her age. On the second day after the delivery, she was able to breast feed her baby.
Currently, she is busy with her duties. No matter how severe the persecution, she must tell everyone about the beauty and miracles of Dafa, which she experienced herself. The truth will overcome all the evil lies and save more and more people.
