“We’ve been fooling ourselves for so long that we don’t even know the truth when we see it,” said David Matas, a Canadian international human rights lawyer who has been studying the Chinese Communist regime’s live harvesting for nearly two decades. “The medical community in the United States needs to start paying attention to the facts and not blindly accept the Chinese government’s statements about how great they are,” Matas said.
So far, the United States has passed only symbolic resolutions condemning forced organ removal.
But just last night, the House of Representatives passed America’s first-ever bill with substantive tools to hold perpetrators accountable.
H.R. 1154, known as the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act of 2023, seeks to sanction anyone involved in forced organ trafficking and requires the government to report annually such activity in every foreign country.
Participants found guilty face criminal penalties of up to $1 million and 20 years in prison. If its supporting bill passes the Senate, the “Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act” may soon be sent to President Biden’s desk.
“Obviously, if you kill someone for organs in the United States, you will be prosecuted. If you leave the United States and come back, the same should be true,” Matas said.
