CCP-Led Red-Song Singing Pushed Into Hong Kong

The controversial Red-song Singing performance was
pushed into Hong Kong, recently.
The Red-song performance was launched by Bo Xilai,
the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Secretary of Chongqing.
As a CCP-led mass movement, the Red-Song singing keeps
expanding across China, under Bo's vigorous promotion.
Outside critics view the Red-Song movement as a revival
of the ultra-left movement.
Bo was also questioned over his intention of entering
CCP Politburo Standing Committee at the upcoming 18th congress.

Chongqing's official Red-Song Singing campaign
is expanding into Hong Kong,
On Feb. 6, over 500 members in 13 teams arrived in Hong Kong,
and were scheduled to hold three-days of performances there.

The Chinese always associate the Cultural Revolution and
blockhead education with the Red-song Singing campaign.
Commentator, Liu Ruishao says, with more people's awakening,
the political mobilization of red songs is not what it once was.
The red songs at most have the value of nostalgia and
can be used in historical research.

So what is the reaction of Hong Kong's people ?

At Hong Kong Polytechnic University, one of the venues of
Red-Song Singing, several students have expressed their views.
Chongqing Red-song Singing Group is suspected to have the
purpose of being purely for brainwashing Hong Kong's people, they think.

Student at Hong Kong Polytechnic Univ.: "I feel that
it must be the CCP that is doing this thing.
Such a performance may be a form of art distortion, or more
likely it's being used as political propaganda. That's no good."

A female student from Hong Kong Polytechnic Univ., says:
" If it]s held here, it'll not be easy to influence we college students.
As we are all knowledgeable,
and have our own points of view.
I don't rule out the possibility that it has the purpose of
brainwashing people, so I won't proactively to listen to it."

The female student adds that she will not attend the
Red-Song performance, as she discourages Communism.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University student says: "Because
I don't want others to control my mind.
I want to keep my own freedom, rather than be brainwashed.
I've grown up now;
I'm able to distinguish between true and false,
right and wrong."

A mainland Chinese who travels to Hong Kong says he does
not know much about Red-Songs.

Mainland Chinese: “I'm not interested in it, and have never
taken any interest in it.
What's more, I'm older than the age group that would be
interested in it."

Howard Lam, Director of GreenRadio, Citizens' Radio in Hong Kong,
says that the vast majority of Hong Kong people dislike Red Songs.
The CCP is so feeble that it has to rely on the singing of Red Songs
to fortify the brainwashing of Hong Kong's people, Howard thinks.

Howard Lam says: "I think it forces many youth and
academic people here to be a token audience.
I don't think that the attendees will have any feelings for it!

What do we in Hong Kong have to do with the Red Army's history?
Red Army, Red Song, such stuff is only the CCP's own history.
This is just a technique for brainwashing,
the CCP is using this way to penetrate into people's minds,
to change people's ideology.
I don't think it'll bear fruit."

Since 2007 when Bo Xilai ran Chongqing, he has
vigorously promoted the Red-Song Singing movement locally.
Bo has launched Red-Song singing across China
on many occasions.
Bo's motive has incurred speculation that he wants
to publicize himself with an eye on his own political promotion.
