State of Illinois Condemns CCP Organ Harvesting

The Illinois House of Representatives passed a resolution strongly urging the US. government to investigate and take steps to fully stop the CCP’s evil practice of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.

The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, which began on July 20, 1999, has been on-going for nearly 15 years. Recently, the Illinois House of Representatives passed a resolution strongly urging the U.S. government to investigate and take steps to fully stop the CCP’s evil practice of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. Human rights lawyer for Falun Gong, Theresa Chu, praises the significance of this resolution. She also calls on the U.S. State Department to publicize the evidence of CCP live organ harvesting as soon as possible.
On Feb. 26, 2014, the Illinois House of Representatives unanimously passed the House Resolution No. HR0730, requiring the CCP to “immediately stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.” The resolution strongly urged the U.S. government to “investigate organ transplants in China and take all reasonable steps to bring an end to the revolting practice of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for transplants.” It also requested the U.S. government to “prohibit any doctors who performed transplants using organ harvested from Falun Gong practitioners from gaining entry into the United States.”
In an interview with NTD on March 5, Associate Professor Feng Hao, University of Illinois, says the adoption of this resolution reflects the general opinion of Americans.
Feng Hao, Associate Professor, University of Illinois: “We started with signature collections in each congressional district. Many people took the petition form, which was also presented to the Representatives of the House. They have all shown their support of the petition, and this resolution was thus adopted. I believe this represents the general Americans, because the House Representatives represent the people.”
Theresa Zhu, Human Rights lawyer for Falun Gong: “The State of Illinois resolution has extraordinary significance. This Illinois resolution should be used as a benchmark by all other states to express their opposition to the genocidal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. As for prohibiting doctors who performed live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners from entering the United States, we believe countries around the world should all adopt this measure.”
The Resolution points out that, “Falun Gong is a peaceful spiritual practice of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance for achieving physical and spiritual well-being through exercises and meditation,” and has benefited “tens of millions in China and elsewhere.”
“The Chinese Communist authority has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners with the policy, ‘Defame their reputation, bankrupt them financially, destroy them physically’.” “Researcher and journalist Ethan Gutmann estimates that approximately 65,000 Falun Gong adherents may have been killed for their organs from 2000 to 2008.”
The Resolution disclosed, “In May 2012, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong released the telephone transcripts and audio recordings of conversations between undercover investigators and senior Chinese Communist Party officials, in which several officials indicated that central authorities were aware of or involved in organ harvesting from Falun Gong prisoners.”
Theresa Zhu: “We do know that there are secret places in every city of China, conducting secret detention of a massive amount of Falun Gong practitioners and performing live organ harvesting. Those participants such as doctors, involved in live organ harvesting, the insiders, disclose the locations of the live organ harvesting or the processes involved in the crime of live organ harvesting, can become the prosecution witnesses during the future trials.”
Since March 2006, the CCP’s organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners has been exposed to the world. Numerous motions condemning the atrocities of the CCP have taken place around the world.
In particular, on Dec. 12, 2013, the European Parliament passed an urgent resolution calling on the Communist regime to immediately end the practice of live organ harvesting. The Resolution mentions that, “the Communist regime performs more than 10,000 organ transplants per year and 165 Chinese organ transplant centers advertise that matching organs can be found within two to four weeks.”
According to the 2013 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices issued by the U.S. Department of State on Feb. 27, the Communist regime still falls short of their obligation to uphold universal human rights.
Theresa Zhu: “We know that the U.S. State Department holds evidence of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. We hope not only Illinois, but many more representatives will show their support to Falun Gong and demand that the U.S. government voluntarily publish evidence of the CCP crimes against humanity before the people voice their concerns regarding the crimes.”
After Feb. 6, 2012, when former Chongqing police chief Wang Lijun defected to the U.S. consulate in Chengdu, the Epoch Times obtained exclusive news from their network of sources that Wang brought with him documents which he gave to the U.S. government. Included were pieces of relevant evidence, such as tape recordings and confidential files of Bo Xilai’s instruction and participation in live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, and orders from the Political and Legal Affairs Commission to suppress Falun Gong and dissidents.
