An SOS Letter from China, in a Halloween Decoration Kit

December 23, The Oregonian reported a graveyard kit worth
US $29.99 brought surprise to an Oregon lady, Julie Keith.
Among artificial skeletons, tombstones and spider webs,
Keith found a plea letter from the Chinese labor camp.
The letter issued a thrilling and shocking cry for help.
This letter of Chinese mixed with English bore no signature.
It read, “Sir: If you occasionally buy this product, please
kindly resend this letter to the World Human Right Organization.
Thousands people here who are under the persecution
of the Chinese Communist Party Government will thank and remember you forever.”
The graveyard kit, the letter read, was made in unit 8,
department 2 of the Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang, China.
“People who work here have to work 15 hours a day
without Saturday, Sunday break and any holidays.
Otherwise, they will suffer torturement,
beat and rude remark. Nearly no payment.”
The last paragraph of the letter read,”People who work here,
suffer punishment 1-3 years averagely,”
“Many of them are Falun Gong practitioners…
They often suffer more punishment than others.”
Shocked, Keith posted this letter to Facebook and
spread this plea for help.
The Oregonian wrote,”After the Oregonian informed
the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement about
the letter, ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations
began looking into the case.”
What’s Masanjia like?
NTD Television interviewed a few overseas Falun Gong
practitioners who were previously detained in Masanjia Labor Camp for practicing Falun Gong.
Falun Gong practitioner Dei Liguo: “I was persecuted
in Masanjia in 1999.
They produce handicrafts for export.
All handicrafts are plasticized and toxic.
We made products for Christmas, we also knitted
sweaters from 5 in the morning to 11pm.”
Falun Gong practitioner Guo Yujun:
“You were only allowed to stand up to use the toilet.
You sat for rest of the day.
We worked over time, there was tons of work.
There was no weekend or break.
The food, if any, was not good.
We did not get any money.”
In addition to over time slavery, Falun Gong practitioners
suffer doubling the persecution in Masanjia labor camp for unwilling to renounce their faith.
Falun Gong practitioner Ya Hui: “I was in unit 5.
There was a Falun Gong practitioner who refused to transform.
He was very seriously persecuted.
His hands were so cruelly tortured by handcuffs for days
that tendons had no feeling and he could not work any more.
But he was still forced to carry sacks weighing over
several dozens of kilograms everyday.”
Guo Yujun: “A lady with a name that sounded like
Zheng Guirong died of persecution.
Because she would not convert, they punished her
by conducting transformation work on her during the day and had her stitch sweaters overtime at night.
Sometimes she was not allowed to sleep for the whole night.”
These Falun Gong practitioners all indicated that during
detention, contact to the outside was completely cut off.
Once the intent to seek for help is found out about,
the help seeker is severely punished, and some even disappear.
These persecutions in Masanjia labor camp
were not isolated cases.
Falun Gong practitioners from Beijing and Changchun
confirmed that slave labor, brainwashing and cruel torture also took place in other labor camps and during detention.
Once the intent to seek help was revealed,
the labor camp would even punish everyone in the camp.
Chang Shige, a persecuted Falun Gong Practitioner
from Changchun City: “They have endured such intolerable pain and this unbelievable approach was thus taken.
Now it’s exposed to the international community,
the forced labor camp may have also started a thorough investigation into this matter.
I hope the righteous people, overseas media and
organizations will all stand up to stop the persecution.”
The Oregonian reported,”Title 19, section 1307 of U.S.
Code generally prohibits the importation of all items ‘mined,
produced or manufactured’in any foreign country
by convict labor, forced labor and/or indentured labor.”
Sears Holdings Corporation, which operates Kmart,
the company that sold the kit,
stated in a release that business termination will result
if use of forced labor is confirmed upon investigation.
