I read reports about the secret Sujiatun Concentration Camp in Shenyang City, which has been killing Falun Gong practitioners, selling their organs and cremating their bodies to eliminate the evidence. I was shocked and fell into deep thought.
It is said that China is the biggest market of international organ trade. Forced labor camps have become a market for death-row inmates’ organs. Kidney transplant buyers come to China from Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Canada, and other places. Recently, underground international organ trade companies and privately held hospitals have been focusing on Sujiatun in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. A concentration camp in Sujiatun has detained about 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners who were transferred from northeast China and other places in China. They have doctors there who remove organs from detainees. There is an incinerator in the camp. Falun Gong practitioners’ bodies are incinerated immediately after their organs have been removed.
1. Kidney Transplant Operation in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China
According to an AFP report on February 27, 2006, a Japanese government official claimed that at least 7 Japanese patients died after having organ transplants in China. They went to Shanghai, Shenyang City in Liaoning Province, and Shanxi Province for organ transplants between 2004 and February 2006. The official believed that they went to China for transplant operations because they couldn’t find available organs in Japan.
Another report by Jiji Press stated that 180 Japanese people had undergone liver or kidney transplant operations in China in 2004 and 2005. Although the organ transplant operation techniques in China have been improving, many people suspect that the organs are taken from recently executed prisoners and then sold to the hospital for transplant purposes.
According to a report by Northeast Network (http://news.nen.com.cn) on December 9, 2005, about 10 hospitals in Shenyang City have performed organ transplant operations. Most of the transplant operations were performed in three hospitals – the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, Shenyang Military General Hospital and the 463 Hospital of Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Since early 2005, around 250 kidney transplants, over 70 liver transplants, 3 simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplants, and one heart transplant were performed in Shenyang City alone.
According to the Deputy President of First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, who is also the director of Organ Transplant Department, the hospital began to perform kidney transplant operations in the early 1990s. By now they have performed over 600 kidney transplants and 120 liver transplants.
Since China does not yet have a law governing patients who are alive but without brain faculties, an organ donor organization has not been formed. A reporter from Northeast Network learned from the Department of Anatomy in China Medical University that most donors who donated their bodies or organs in Shenyang City were seniors over 70 years old. Usually, organs from people over 50 years old are unsuitable for transplant purposes. Thus, the bodies from senior donors are mostly used for scientific research or educational purposes. Their organs are rarely used in transplant operations.
So where did all these transplanted organs come from?
2. Source of Organs
The source of the transplanted organs has become an issue of concern.
EastDay.com reprinted such a report from Chinese Business Morning View on February 24, 2006. In early 2004, the Surgical Department of Fengtian Hospital Affiliated with Shenyang Medical College (formerly called The Eighth People’s Hospital of Shenyang, and the Central Hospital of Shenyang Medical College) admitted a female patient who suffered from serious leg injuries in a car accident. The patient had a general anesthesia and was lying on the operating table. A doctor from another department suddenly entered the operating room. He had a special needle in his hand and extracted a considerable amount of marrow from the patient. After he left, the patient’s operation resumed. An insider from the hospital later exposed that the marrow extracted from the patient was used in the other department’s marrow stem cell in vitro culture experiments.
On August 4, 2002, Mr. Fang Yanjun, an employee of Qiupigou Coal Mine in Huludao City, died in a mining accident. The day after the accident, the forensic department of the public security sub-bureau in Nanpiao District dissected his body without the consent of his family. Some of Mr. Fang’s organs were missing after the dissection.
Recently, German anatomist Gunther von Hagens shocked the world with hisBodies exhibition. He displayed many plastinated cadavers that were skinned, and encountered intense condemnation from human rights groups. The media exposed the fact that many of von Hagens’ human bodies were executed prisoners from China. Gunther von Hagens also admitted to having received a corpse with a bullet wound in the head.
The German news magazine Der Spiegel reported that von Hagens started his business of human bodies and human parts with China more than 10 years ago. He has three plastination companies, or human body factories. His biggest factory is in Dalian City, Liaoning Province in China. He hired 170 Chinese workers there. There are three forced labor camps near the factory.
The German magazine Der Spiegel also stated that evidence has revealed that many of the human bodies and dead embryos preserved in von Hagens’ factory in Dalian were supplied by the Chinese Public Security Bureau. Der Spiegelexposed that the dead embryos could be victims of the Chinese government’s one-child policy. Included in the collection is the body of a 9-month old fetus with scars on its head. Records show that it came from the Chinese Public Security Bureau.
China currently has the largest organ trade business of any country. Human bodies fall into the hands of the corrupt Public Security Bureau. The functional organs are sold to hospitals or patients, and some of the non-functional ones are sold to von Hagens’ or Sui Hongjin’s plastination companies for conversion into preserved specimens to be used in the touring Bodies exhibition.
3. Increased Price of Kidney Transplants; Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted to Death Are Cheap Source of Organs for the Black Market
Northeast News Net (www.nen.com.cn) reported that there was not much difference in price for the transplant of an organ from the patient’s relative or an organ from another donor. The difference is only about five thousand yuan. According to the report, groups of patients from Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Canada often travel to Mainland China to have kidney transplant operations. Two years ago, 1 million Taiwan dollars (about 30 thousand US dollars) could cover living expenses and the operation for a kidney transplant. Normally, after the patient receives notification from the hospital, they travel to Mainland China right away. The patient only needs to stay at the hospital for one week, during which time a suitable kidney arrives. On December 12, 2000, Singapore United Evening News reported a story on kidney transplant groups.
In recent years, organs for transplant have been in short in supply around the world. Currently, China, which has more executions than any other country, uses lethal injection to execute capital punishment. Therefore, the organs from death-row inmates are not suitable for organ transplant. Since the organs for transplant are more difficult to obtain, the prices are getting higher and higher, and the waiting period for patients is longer and longer. Since the 610 Office, the CCP’s secret agency created to persecute Falun Gong, gave orders to the entire country, such as “killing of Falun Gong practitioners should be counted as suicide,” and “ruin their reputation, destroy them financially and eliminate them physically”, the organs from persecuted-to-death Falun Gong practitioners have become an important and cheap source for the black market organ trade in China.
According to a witness at the Sujiatun Concentration Camp, the business people and doctors who purchased organs of Falun Gong practitioners were told that the practitioners “became insane from practicing Falun Gong” or “were sentenced to death because they killed people.” Therefore, the doctors who attended the organ removals and the business people who purchased them did so under false pretenses.
4. Organs Missing from Falun Gong Practitioners’ Corpses
According to an investigation report, holes and knife wounds were discovered on the corpses of some Falun Gong practitioners. Some were dissected without the consent of family members, and the organs from some of the corpses were removed. A corrupt doctor from the Baiyun District Drug Rehabilitation Institute in Guangzhou City openly directed perpetrators who beat Falun Gong practitioners: “Don’t hit the kidneys, the kidneys are useful.”
On February 16, 2001, Falun Gong practitioner Ren Pengwu from Harbin City, (male, 33 years old), was arrested for distributing truth-clarification materials about the Tiananmen “self-immolation” incident. He was detained in the Hulan County Second Detention Center. Before dawn on February 21, only five days after his detention, he was tortured to death. Without obtaining the family’s permission, and under the guise of “legal investigation,” they removed all of Ren Pengwu’s organs, from his pharynx and larynx to his penis, and then hastily cremated his body.
Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zuo Zhigang was 33 and worked at a privately-owned computer store located on Zhongshan Street in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. On May 30, 2001, police from the Public Security Bureau and the 610 Office arrested him from his work place and took him to the Qiaoxi District Police Station in Shijiazhuang. Later, the police interrogated Zuo Zhigang using various torture methods, and he was beaten to death on the same day. His corpse was covered with scars. One of his ears was dark purple and there were two big square holes on the back of his torso, indicative of internal organ removal.
Ms. Hao Runjuan from Guangzhou City was very healthy before she was arrested. After being continuously tortured for 22 days by police in the Baiyun Detention Center, Hao Renjuan passed away. The police authorities conducted a full body autopsy without her family members’ knowledge. When the family was told to identify the body, it was completely unrecognizable, with fresh bloodstains on it. Because the body was so disfigured, none of her family members believed that it was Hao Runjuan, even after seeing the body twice. Then, the family had to take her two-year-old son for a DNA test to confirm that the body was truly his mother’s. Finally, it was confirmed that the unrecognizable body was that of Hao Runjuan.
Mr. Sun Ruijian was 29 and left home on November 7, 2000 to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in Beijing. He was arrested by Beijing police. On December 1, his family was told that he had passed away after jumping out of the train while he was being brought back by the police. When his family asked to see the body, the police hid the facts. When his wife saw his remains, an autopsy had already been performed. His eyes were strikingly protruded.
A man who was detained in the Baiyun District’s Drug Rehabilitation Center in Guangzhou City revealed that one day he witnessed several drug addicts beating a Falun Gong practitioner. A doctor in the center also saw the beating. The doctor said: “Do not hit him in the waist. The kidneys are useful.” He heard the doctors in the center tell those drug addicts several times not to hit Falun Gong practitioners’ abdomen area and eyes.
The man also talked about several male Falun Gong practitioners who were detained with him. They were between 20 and 50 years old with northern accents. He personally saw them drugged and then they never came back. He also said that even though those Falun Gong practitioners from outside of Guangzhou City disappeared, none of their families were allowed to find out about them. According what he observed, the Baiyun District’s Drug Rehabilitation Center often incited those drug addicts who were crazed from their addiction to beat detained Falun Gong practitioners and required them to keep the internal organs intact.
