Woman Who Regained Sight after Practicing Falun Gong Persecuted to Disability
October 17, 2012 | By a Minghui correspondent from Chongqing City, China
(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhao Fengxia, 31, from Tongliang County, Chongqing City, regained her sight from practicing Falun Gong. Because she told others the facts about Falun Gong, she was persecuted almost to death in a forced labor camp. She remains disabled, and cannot stand up.

Zhao Fengxia lost her vision without warning. She was treated at Chongqing Southwest Hospital, but was still unable to see. She was desperate when a relative of the patient next to her told her that reciting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” would be very good for her. The other lady had once had a terminal illness and had been in bed for more than a decade. She had been spending a million yuan on medical expenses each year, but she was still emaciated and had lost all of her hair. When she later started to practice Falun Dafa, she recovered miraculously and her hair grew back. Fengxia’s mother hurried to find the book Zhuan Falun and read it to Fengxia, and her sight returned soon after.
Since Falun Dafa brought hope to her life, she decided to tell others her personal story, in hopes that they would understand that Falun Gong offers people salvation.
Ms. Zhao started looking for a job in Chongqing in 2007, so she could take care of her elderly grandmother. She and her mother were passing by Shangqingsi People’s Primary School in Chongqing in early September, and she clarified the truth about Falun Gong to a security guard. The guard took out handcuffs and handcuffed her mother. He called the local police, who came and took both Ms. Zhao and her mother away. The police said the two would be released in three days, but three days later, they were placed in the Jiangbei District Detention Center. Ms. Zhao was sentenced to one year of forced labor and sent to Shimahe Women’s Forced Labor Camp.
In the labor camp, the police and collaborators persecuted her in many ways. She was beaten, stripped naked, forced to squat for long periods, and deprived of sleep. At one point she became unable to speak. The labor camp staff forced her to take unknown drugs and injected her with drugs. As a result she was on the verge of death. She was given a medical parole after six months.
Shortly after returning home from the labor camp. Ms. Zhao was so weak that she could not walk. She had diarrhea with pus and blood for several days. She has since been unable to stand.
