Hidden Agenda at Medical Conference to Cover up Organ Harvesting Atrocities

1. Academic Seminars Covering Up Crimes
The Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver was established in Singapore in 1978 and it has become a recognized entity in Asia and Pacific, New Zealand, Turkey and Egypt. (www.apasl.info) It was created to promote research and awareness of hepatic diseases, and its members meet once a year. This year the meeting was held for the very first time in China at the Beijing National Convention Center.
The Chinese National Convention Center (CNCC) opened doors in October 2009. It is China’s biggest state-of-the-art facility and a great platform for exhibitions, seminars and just about any type of event. The center has 100 meeting rooms that are adaptable to any needs and equipped with cutting-edge technology.
The Confucius Institute recently held a convention at the CNCC. The topic was basic and clinical scientific research and not quite like the usual annual meetings in the clinical sector. The organizers, in an effort to promote their hidden agenda, included liver graft tutorials on the first day’s agenda “The Art of Liver Transplants.” They invited doctors from Asian liver transplant centers to make presentations. They downplayed the huge number of liver transplants performed in China. Among the twelve speakers, only one was from China, Zheng Shusen, head of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University. The host for each break-out session was a Chinese doctor, including Shen Zhongyang from the Armed Police Hospital, Zheng Shusen, head of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, and Yan Lunan from China West Hospital. One of the arrangers and president of the convention was Professor Zhuang Hui, faculty member at the Medicine Academy of Health of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at the Peking University Health Science Center.
We are asking, “Why has the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) been so interested in the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver over the past twenty years?”
The CCP has faced enormous international pressure in the wake of allegations of live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners, and the publication of the Bloody Harvest report and book that presents convincing evidence of these horrific atrocities. CCP minions fear exposure and criticism for their crimes from foreign colleagues, and thus embarked on so-called academic research as a cover for their crimes. They wanted to deceive the organ transplant community as long as possible. Once the international transplant community learned the truth, the CCP doctors would become pariahs. They worried that knowledge of their crimes would trigger an investigation and subsequent court actions, resulting in the CCP losing legitimacy in the international community.
Western academia has set rigorous standards regarding clinical research. The onus is on the researcher, who has to prove that there is no medical, ethical, legal or any other issue that would invalidate the research.
When it comes to organ harvesting, there are no rigorous standards or set requirements. Therefore, recent research of clinical organ transplants in China is not recognized in the international medical forum. Yet, the CCP made great efforts to have these articles published in the hope of gaining international recognition and thus establish legitimacy while covering up the murder of people. What that means is that the minute an article is published and accepted internationally, the CCP would claim that its organ transplant is “in line with set standards and the organs were donated voluntarily.” It uses deception to legitimize its crimes of live organ harvesting.
In China, dinner parties are part of doing business. After the conference, banquets and sightseeing tours are set up. These activities are good opportunities for doctors from the CCP organ transplant community to network. The intent is to give legitimacy to their organ harvesting activities and allow the doctors to be recognized by peers from the international medical community. At the same time, the CCP wants the world to think that the organ donors are all death-row inmates.
   Shen Zhongyang
Zhuang Hui was originally doing basic research, but became an accomplice of Shen Zhongyang and Shi Bingyi because of greed, as large profits could be gained from organ harvesting. In 2005, he worked with Shen Zhongyang and Shi Bingyi at the Beijing Liver Transplant Rehabilitation Center of Beijing Ditan Hospital as a visiting director. In 2006, he assumed responsibility for Shen Zhongyang’s transplant cases and published the article “Monitoring Portal Vein Complications following Liver Transplant by Color Doppler Flow Imaging” in the Chinese Journal of Liver Diseases. He had performed preoperative and postoperative monitoring of 504 cases of orthotropic liver transplants.
In 2009, he went to Lanzhou City and attended the Lanzhou Liver Disease and Transplant Summit, a ceremony for the establishment of the Gansu Provincial Liver Transplant Recipients Association. Present were: Shen Zhongyang, Liu Weizhong, Director of Gansu Provincial Health Department, Li Cunwen, Deputy Party Secretary of Gansu Provincial Health Department, and Wang Hansong, Party Secretary of Lanzhou University Party Committee. Officially, this association is a liver transplant recipient forum. Unofficially, Zhuang Hui wanted to get names of patients needing a liver transplant, so he could pad his coffers.
2. Murder for Political Gain
In 2006, a criminal complaint was filed against Shen Zhongyang, the director of the Oriental Organ Transplantation Center at the Number One Center Hospital in Tianjin, China and the director of the Transplant Institute of Armed Police, and he was served a warrant when attending the World Transplant Congress in Boston. A charge of violating the United States “Torture Criminal Statute” (Title 18 USCA Section 2340A) and “Torture Convention” was brought by Falun Gong practitioners. The main incriminating evidence against Shen Zhongyang is that doctors at his hospital admitted, in recorded telephone conversations, that organs were harvested from Falun Gong practitioners.
Shen Zhongyang is currently a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Head of the Number One Center Hospital in Tianjin. He is also Director of the Oriental Organ Transplantation Center and the Director of the Transplant Institute of the Armed Police. According to the statistics published on http:\\www.3shen.cn, by April 2004, Shen Zhongyang had performed 1,000 liver transplants, more than half of the total liver transplants in China. By March 2005, he had performed 1,600 liver transplants, more than anyone in the world.
3. The Oriental Organ Transplantation Center in Tianjin
For example, the second liver Fu Biao received, after the failure of the first transplant, was harvested from a Falun Gong practitioner according to his family. They asked the chief surgeon Shen Zhongyang for the source of the organ. Shen replied that everything was legal and that they were not supposed to ask this. Shen said, “Fu Biao suffered stage IV hepatocellular carcinoma, one of the worst types of cancer. Such a patient will live on the average three to six months once diagnosed. Fu Biao lived for a year after the liver transplant, six months above the average.” Fu Biao had two liver transplants in one year, one at the General Hospital of Beijing Armed Police and the other at the Oriental Organ Transplant Center in Tianjin. He suffered surgical pain, the side effects of the chemotherapy and the radiotherapy, and had to pay roughly 1 million yuan.
The transplant community basically adheres to the “Milan Criteria,” which is the basis for selecting a patient. Advanced liver cancer does not fall under this criterion, because the cancer cells have already proliferated and spread widely in the bile duct system and will also spread into the transplant area. Shen Zhongyang took no note of the criteria and said, “The understanding that advanced liver cancer patients are not suitable for transplant is a misinterpretation of the foreign regulation.” He continued, “If you have money you can buy a BMW,” encouraging wealthy people to get the transplant, regardless of the “Milan Criteria.” The message was clear. He wanted to perform more transplants and he had a supply livers. He murdered people for his personal gain.
In Hong Kong, Dr. Fan Sheung-tat is nicknamed the “father of the liver transplant.” He said that liver transplants are a major surgical undertaking and generally take from twelve to twenty-three hours. He once told colleagues, “A liver transplant shortens the life by a few years.”
Shen Zhongyang’s motivation for performing liver transplants is drug addiction and the need for funds to support his addiction. This drove him to kill, to do liver transplants, earn more money and gain fame.
On the sideline, in China, there is an interesting description about triad gangs. When triad gangs accumulate certain strength they begin the “transition of success.” There are three steps, with the first called “economic leach,” which is to invest the ill-gotten gains into legitimate trades. The second step is to work on one’s image and establish a “successful person” or “charitable person” or “red hat entrepreneur” (refers to someone who is both an entrepreneur and a high official) image. The third step is to be “dyed red” politically, which is to do everything possible to become a deputy of the National People’s Congress or a member of the CPPCC, which provides a “protective umbrella.”
The triad gang evolution represents a mirror of Shen Zhongyang’s life. He began to work at the Armed Police Hospital at the end of 2001. He established the Transplant Center of the Armed Police General Hospital and served as the director. By then he had accumulated a large sum of capital. In 2007, his center purchased equipment for an operating theater in Germany. His representatives purchased several sets of equipment and established another thirteen to a total of twenty operating theaters. He used the money he earned from the liver transplants to bribe his way into CCP establishments to gain titles. He became an “Outstanding Youth” and the “Son of the East.” Then he became a member of the CPPCC in the hope of becoming part of the CCP’s inner circle. The path this murderer and drug addict had taken is the path of “successful transition.” The only difference is that the CCP brought him on board and trained him as an important link in the chain of live organ harvesting.
4. Procuring Organs
By April 2004, Shen Zhongyang had performed over 1,000 liver transplants, accounting for over half of the national total. The CCP claims that all organs were from death-row prisoners. In that case, the number of death-row prisoners in Beijing and Tianjin is over half of the national total or all organs harvested from death-row prisoners within the radius of 1,000 kilometers of Tianjin were provided to Shen Zhongyang.
For liver transplants, time is essential. The maximum time from cutting the liver from the donor’s body to the transplant is 15 hours. On the average, it will take from 7½ to 12½ hours to complete the transplant. With police help, livers from within 1,000 kilometers from Tianjin can be used. However, there is a problem. In 2004, there were 360 hospitals in China with the ability to perform liver, kidney and heart transplants. These hospitals would be in direct competition with each other for the livers, making it impossible to be the sole or major recipient for the organs.
Records from Shen Zhongyang’s Oriental Transplant Center indicate:
1) Before 1998 there were only 9 transplants done.
2) In 1999, when the CCP began to persecute Falun Gong, there were 33 transplants.
3) In 2000, there were 111 transplants.
4) In 2001, there were 240 transplants.
5) In 2002, there were 512 transplants.
6) In 2003, there were 801 transplants.
7) In 2004, there were 1,601 transplants.
Transplants increased dramatically after the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. Since February 2006, Shen Zhongyang has not published any articles on his personal blog. The organ harvesting atrocities in China first came to light in March 2006.
The timing is more than just coincidental. At that time, large numbers of practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. According to the Clearwisdom website, about seven million practitioners went to Beijing during the first 2 years of the persecution. In the months following that, a further one million practitioners went to Beijing. Among them over 300,000 went into the city and the rest stayed on the outskirts of Beijing. The number of missing practitioners is about 100,000. The huge amount of organs Shen Zhongyang needed for his organ transplants required an organ bank. According to witnesses, organs were harvested from living practitioners and brought to him by the Chinese armed police.
On July 20, 1999, the CCP Central Committee and Jiang Zemin launched the official campaign of persecution, carried out nationwide by the 610 Office, with the help of the entire political apparatus. Jiang Zemin not only used police, but in July-August 1999, when hundreds of thousands or even millions of unarmed people went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, Jiang Zemin mobilized the armed forces. He dispatched soldiers to all Beijing areas. He also deployed heavily armed soldiers on the main roadways into Beijing to intercept and arrest practitioners on their way to Beijing.
All levels of the party, government, military, police and doctors cooperated and collaborated. They mass murdered practitioners in an organized and premeditated manner and their hands are covered with practitioners’ blood. Shen Zhongyang’s personal transplant history is ample proof of the cruelty and the scope of the persecution. Shen Zhongyang is a member of the CPPCC and the head of the Armed Police Hospital. The organs of victims that were needed for his surgeries came from the live organ bank controlled by the military and armed police. Shen Zhongyang himself is the head of the Tianjin First Central Hospital. His success was guaranteed because he became a useful tool in the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong.
One last word is that organ harvesting from practitioners is not limited to Shen Zhongyang, but a tragedy happening throughout the nation, a national crime and genocide of innocent people.
